	♥ 9:38am WoodsOfNH (now Maine): I had a weird reading experience last week. Started reading Eimear McBride's "The Lesser Bohemians." Bailed after about 3 pages because the style made me crazy. Yes, 3 pages. Then after a quick revisit...now I'm halfway through the book!

	♥ 9:38am YETI BOB: I took on the "Yeti" persona partly to help me cope with the winters in Chicago - to encourage myself to go out in the snow and enjoy it, not complain about the cold. Does it work? Yes and no. Most winters, yes, but this winter (+covid) is extra-challenging. I went outside yesterday, I felt like I was stepping out of the safe pod into some harsh alien landscape. (The air had enough oxygen to breathe, I didn't die out there! - maybe I'll try again today). Winter blues / blahs to the Nth degree but this too shall pass.

Currently reading Henry James's The Bostonians--I was craving florid 19th century prose and snarky, passive-aggressive pettiness among the characters, and it is delivering on all fronts.

	♥ 10:09am Trouble: i could talk about this for hours roberto: wool is not cruel to sheep. it is a natural part of who they are. yes mass industrial farming is bad for animals and for people. but many many farmers use animal friendly methods in the sheep industry. Seek out manafacturers who support those ideals. I am a knitter and buy lots of my yarn from small farmers who depend on their sheep for their living and treat them as such.

	♥ 10:13am melinda: @Phillippe most wool makes me itchy, including my beloved slippers when worn without socks. But I learned that for me it's the processing and not the wool itself after a weaver friend who raises sheep gave me a home-washed wad of wool to experiment with.

	♥ 10:17am Trouble: alpaca is a lot softer if wool bothers peeps. certain sheep breeds are also softer than others. the wool from navajo-churro sheep is positively rope like, which is why it is used for rugs.

	10:31am Doug in JC: The problem in Texas is that they decided not to have their grid connect to the national grid so that they could skirt federal regulations. When other states have generation problems they can have energy from the surrounding area delivered through the cooperative grid. Texas valued profits over resiliency and this is the result.

(The air had enough oxygen to breathe, I didn't die out there! - maybe I'll try again today). Winter blues / blahs to the Nth degree but this too shall pass.

Seek out manafacturers who support those ideals. I am a knitter and buy lots of my yarn from small farmers who depend on their sheep for their living and treat them as such.

	10:31am Doug in JC: The problem in Texas is that they decided not to have their grid connect to the national grid so that they could skirt federal regulations. When other states have generation problems they can have energy from the surrounding area delivered through the cooperative grid. Texas valued profits over resiliency and this is the result.

That's what my friend told me. I've used straight lanolin on dry skin before so that's not an issue for me but I'm sure it is for some, one can have a sensitivity to just about anything.

Doug and K8 and Shayna and I had a ton of fun! tim, Doug brought homemade (!) bagels, which, having had three of since yesterday, I can attest are amazing. We brought Greenpoint goodies: * Polish food from our fave takeout place: mushroom/kraut pierogies, zucchini pancakes, potato pancakes, mushroom soup, pickle soup. * Two dozen doughnuts from Peter Pan, the best doughnuts in the city. * A bottle of Rittenhouse rye from our local liquor store * An assortment of treats for the WFMU dogs: a pig ear for each of the Skelehounds and a bag of bison/sweet potato treats.
