Thai/Cambodia border, island with about 50 international DJ living here , a few hundred burning man folks, ditto for Russian hippie coders and many 600 local fisherman
@no, that sounds fun, is that one of those places where toothless old women sell the really great green papaya salad that they grind up themselves on the side of the road with the little tiny crabs?
yes , have that everywhere. also everywhere have lasers under coconut trees and on bamboo huts near little shacks with 10K €'s worth of dj gear each for drum n bass or techno . collision of two worlds

never heard your show before but I'm already hooked !!!
saw one of those mammals with the poison armpits the other day. not just a mammal, a primate!!!!
that's thing with toxic chemicals in it's armpits that it licks and then bites to kill is related to you. yes, YOU!
Broke a sweat today, ami ad. We're planning on taking a load of Greenpoint survival supplies over to the Magic Factory tomorrow -- when the temp drops again, of course!
ami ad, we'll ferry to Manhattan, but the ferry company that runs the JC route is totally useless. Without a smartphone, there's no way to buy a ticket -- well, U.S. mail, but that takes five days, and the tix are good for only thirty days. So we'll risk the four-minute PATH train after walking there from the ferry landing.
Hanyd--OOOH You are going to the mothership! So jelly. I am STILL kicking myself for not making it over to there or Monty Hall during the time that I worked on the Volkswagen case for nearby Toilet and Douche...
@Handy What kind of masks are you and Kate rocking these days? I just upgraded from standard surgical to the Korean KF94. Bit of a different fitting, but you get used to it.
Well, to the sidewalk outside it, Threemoons! Just to drop off some bags of goodies.
HyperDose, I have a mask our friend, a nurse, gave me, the kind you can insert filters into and that has a wire form to the nose. Then I usually put a cloth mask over that. I don't know from numbers or 95s, really. I think Kate's folx gave us N95 masks early on and we kind of never used them, thinking that we could at some point give them to people who really needed them -- but hospitals wouldn't take 'em!
@Handy Of course that makes sense. I haven't been to NYC since just before Covid hit and I often fail to consider the necessary individual precautions. I really miss the city.
We have mostly gotten around by ferry when we've had to to into Manhattan. Lots of long walks up First Ave. after taking the ferry in. It's ... not ideal, but we have the freedom and ability to manage it and do it pretty rarely. We have not had to commute for work and not had to use the subway, which, I get it, is a privilege at this point.
@Handy Those custom masks are pretty snazzy. I got some nice ones I think my aunt made. Unfortunately there was no wire at the top, so it felt too open. Super comfy though. This is the KF94. They're thicker than the surgical, but more breathable than a respirator. A nice in between: www.amazon.com...
(sorry Mark Hurst)
@ami ad@3:53, the PATH train may look cleaner, but a recent article says the PATH's air pollution is actually *worse* (though the subway is not good either): gothamist.com...
yes the PATH trains are quite clean these days! and thankfully, most people are decent about wearing masks, social distancing (not so much when i have had to take the Light Rail, sometimes it is easier and nicer to just WALK!)
i have some AMAZING masks from Yetunde Rodriguez, she and her beautiful family are based in Ohio now (and one of the FIRST things i want to do once i have stable/steady work is buy her artwork, her creations are truly stunning!!!) yaytoonday.com...
i have some awesome masks from EcoDaydream/Daydream Farm Sanctuary (based in North Carolina, iirc) -- although it looks like they are not making the masks right now??? here is the link anyway, in case you want to ask :) ecodaydream.com...
Oops, sorry HyperDose, I didn't see that link when I asked the question. Thanks!
Hey everybody, whenever you order anything from the Evil Empire, do NOT forget to do it via "smile.amazon.com" and choose Auricle Communications. Then a small donation goes to WFMU at no extra cost to you!
I grew up on Sussex Street Downtown JC a little closer to Exchange Place than Grove Street Station. The PATH trains were always running and well maintained. When going to The Garden we hopped on the Journal Square 33St in Manhattan line At Grove Street. We walked through what was called Bum's Ally when we got off in Manhattan and never had to go outdoors. Jonesy mentionrd this a few weks ago. PATH trains were awesome! I hope they still are. 🚇
Kate's laying down vocal tracks about 20' away in an apartment where we can't really close the doors since it's all one hallway and the cats will freak out. So that makes this even more interesting.
@blee, I think this is a live performance. I'm speculating a bit but I think it's semi-anonymized to comply with internal WFMU conflict-of-interest rules... maybe?
properly sugared up now. hyper, I bought four :) started off with two, paid and left. turned around and went back in for two more. it's ok, i'm used to getting weird looks from strangers.

we have an election coming and they have TRUCKS with SPEAKERS slow rolling and blasting all day up and down the streets. each candidate hires X number of trucks and then a blurb blasts on repeat. sides of the trucks have cool posters with the candidate pics and number (for the illiterate) and look freaky all faded in the salt and sun. cyanide.
@Fox Cats are little essential workers! That molding that was coming off the wall just started dripping water about two days ago, so I'm done. Have a realtor sending me listings daily. I should be getting the vaccine soon, so once that's all squared away, I'm getting the hell out of this b-word! \m/
@JohnEBGood -- omg i remember that! did not know it was called "Bum's Alley" though :)
i do not recall exactly when that passageway was shut down, but started using it when i would travel into NYC from where i was going to college, and often once i had moved to Hoboken :)
(i grew up in "the sticks" a/k/a central rural/suburban NJ -- when i graduated college in '81, i moved to Hoboken b/c it was the least expensive place to live -- the "ex" had been born there, also 1959, but his parents had moved out in '69 -- so it was quite strange for him to be moving back!)
@HyperDose, @eºIºk -- good to know that WFMU is an option for the "smile" donations!
when and if i ever order from Amazon, i use "smile" to donate to APLNJ (Animal Protection League of NJ)
hiya, Fox! yuck, can TOTALLY understand re: NOT wanting to be at a parent's house -- but YES! same here, i would do anything for the kitties!!! so i hope you and kitties are all okay, sending LOVE and POSITIVE ENERGY!

Hey that passageway is still there (technically). It was called the Hilton Passageway i think. Certainly a rite of passage for 1970s Path kids. Ok back to being mesmerized by Creamo.

@slugluv1313 Great to know, thank you! Always love helping our furry little allies.
If not me, someone else from Wake & Bake please give listener Fredericks the link to this show. He was asking about the long-format live programming earlier.
Thank you Creamo. Stay safe, warm, and squish them toe beans, y'all. Edison, out!
