I didn't have power in 0 degree weather after the snow for 2 days and went to a friend's last night who did. I was able to shovel the snow off my driveway and get out. People had been driving on the streets enough that it was cleared out some. Last night we had an ice storm so everything is iced over now and water pressure is low and may be losing water next. I'm filling my bathtub with water now. It's supposed to warm up, but not really until this weekend and next week

	♥ 6:28pm Candy-O'67: Oh, no, courtney! I'm so sorry to hear that! I probably would have froze to death over here if I didn't have a fireplace. When I ran out of my older wood, the wood I bought on Saturday was too green and wouldn't burn. I was lucky to be able to get to a friend's 5 minutes away who had power last night and was able to drive back home today. It was fun getting gas before I got home. People were getting stuck in the ice at the pumps!

	♥ 6:32pm Candy-O'67: Ha! Well, we definitely had more than a sprinkle this time! All over it was like up north! We had a least a foot or more, drifts were like 2 feet. And then ice storm came last not on top of it, not good!

	♥ 6:33pm Candy-O'67: I'm ok, Terre! I'm just concerned about my pipes now and losing water. Been running all the faucets since it started, but some have probably already frozen. My neighbor told me next time to let the faucets outside dribble, too. You live and learn!

Yesterday I went to the little Hispanic market around the corner, walked there, and there were at least 40 or 50 people ahead of me to check out. When I walked out the store, there was at least 200 people in line waiting to get in! I definitely went at the right time, I felt like. A friend went to HEB on the other side of the neighborhood and waited in line 2 1/2 hours to get in!

	🍒 ♥ 6:43pm courtneynoir: I live in an apartment and work from home so I was hunkering in front of a space heater. Actually the power company had to do "rolling black-outs" where they pick a section of town and shut off power for 30-60 mins then move on to another section of town ... because the power supply couldn't keep up with all the heaters and the like. Basements are for tornados. I would much prefer to be cold than in a tornado, though.

We thought we were on a rolling blackout, but it had already been 24 hours by that time! Went 48 hours with no power. Hopefully it will last a while now. Fingers crossed!

	♥ 6:51pm Gaylord Fields: Does Austin, etc., have good drainage? Because you have to worry about flooded streets as well as leaky roofs and home damage as a result.
	♥ 6:52pm Candy-O'67: We have pretty good drainage, Gaylord, and we were pretty droughty before this, so our creeks have lots of room for the runoff.
	♥ 6:53pm Candy-O'67: Scott, I can't handle cold either. That's why I live down South. This is a freak occurrence, this much snow and ice. That's why no one who's from here knows what to do...

I didn't have power in 0 degree weather after the snow for 2 days and went to a friend's last night who did. I was able to shovel the snow off my driveway and get out. People had been driving on the streets enough that it was cleared out some. Last night we had an ice storm so everything is iced over now and water pressure is low and may be losing water next. I'm filling my bathtub with water now. It's supposed to warm up, but not really until this weekend and next week

When I ran out of my older wood, the wood I bought on Saturday was too green and wouldn't burn. I was lucky to be able to get to a friend's 5 minutes away who had power last night and was able to drive back home today. It was fun getting gas before I got home. People were getting stuck in the ice at the pumps!

Yesterday I went to the little Hispanic market around the corner, walked there, and there were at least 40 or 50 people ahead of me to check out. When I walked out the store, there was at least 200 people in line waiting to get in! I definitely went at the right time, I felt like. A friend went to HEB on the other side of the neighborhood and waited in line 2 1/2 hours to get in!

Actually the power company had to do "rolling black-outs" where they pick a section of town and shut off power for 30-60 mins then move on to another section of town ... because the power supply couldn't keep up with all the heaters and the like. Basements are for tornados. I would much prefer to be cold than in a tornado, though.
