Probably the wiser advice. I will retire to my smoking room to consider the emanations from the stones and constructed stones of the statues.

I thought everybody had a smoking room, replete with sacred statues, dusty tomes, and also strobe lighted cacti. The thorns blink in pink, yellow, and blue. Also, I'm an idiot. I thought everybody knew that.

Is this too morose for your taste?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44am
dan in wisconsin:

Also, I'm not attempting to troll. I'm simply wondering what even qualifies as over-embellishing or over-posting or over-stuff. I respect this station and everything it seems to be. Which is stellar. No, it's not too morose, it's simply stellar. Keep on, duder. I adore you.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54am

This station should qualify as 23% of the GNP of this stinking, war-frothing, exceptionalist nation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59am
dan in wisconsin:

War-frothing aside, I still like the sounds It's definitely a luxury. But listening is a small thing that could change larger things. Marshall McLuhan listens to Bathory and wonders why the bass couldn't be hotter as a medium, I'm most certain.

@ Scoot67 Yes, Swallowtail caterpillar, they munch on my dill and fennel herb plants.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48am

Your loss of herb creates such beauty. 😊

I should add, I luv them, but they aren't around very much anymore here in NE Pennsylvania. Like soooo many good, important insects.

I'm a permaculturalist.
  4:55am

It's mass extinction for insects, folks.

@scott67 The permaculture movement kinda started Down under.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:04am

Zetti, not meaning you mate. But the factory farms sustained by chemical companies poison.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05am
dan in wisconsin:

You're right, Zetti. I fear most people are too
blasΓ© about the current state of local and world ecosystems. New South Wales, Geoff Lawton is the dude of dudes. We could change our world with the dirt we stand on, basically. Nobody hurt, only a more rational expectation of daily living and eating.
  5:05am
Zetti:

scott67 @4:49 A well balanced ecosystem needs no pesticides.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07am
Scott67:

Zetti, exactly. My garden sounds like yours mate. πŸ‘πŸ˜ŽπŸŒ
  5:08am
Zetti:

@dan... I learned a ton from Lawton.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09am
Scott67:

dan, you follow the Weedy Gardener??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10am
dan in wisconsin:

@Scott you're correct. And also Masanobu Fukuoka of Japan and Bill Mollison of, I believe, Australia, along with his student, Geoff Lawton, who is by now, I think, passing his knowledge onto the rest of us.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:12am
dan in wisconsin:

@Zetti I'm not aware of the Weedy Gardener, but I would wager a guess and say she/he were tolerant of a few weeds in exchange for lower yields.
  5:13am
Zetti:

I also love Wendell Berry. I eat lots of so called weeds, yum.
  5:14am
Zetti:

@dan... you know your shit, excellent.
  5:18am
Zetti:

I like this fun TedTalk by restauranteur Dan Barber discovering permaculture... without using the term. www.ted.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18am
Scott67:

Bill Mollison was a Planeteer indeed! Earth Ship needs more passionate pilots like him.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18am
dan in wisconsin:

I don't know much, I just have a few books, including Bill Mollison's Permaculture Basics, which I consider knowledge greater than almost anything else in this world, and also the One Straw Revolution. I tend to think Derrick Jensen goes a bit too far in his call for the stop to human societies, but I am 99% behind permaculture as a way, as Bucky Fuller said, "To make things work out for all at the detriment of none."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21am
dan in wisconsin:

For example, swale construction in the Middle East could green deserts on a small scale, possibly large scale, especially with salt water de-salinizing.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34am

Music and its effects could change people for the better, it's just too small an audience thus far. Sad reality is that more people respond to taste, touch, and sight, rather than sound.
  5:37am

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44am

Adam Curtis' documentary, Pandora's Box, has an interesting take on pesticides and how they changed the game in agriculture, leading to massive crop yields. It's like part 4, entitled, "Goodbye Mrs. Ant," in the six part 1993 series. You already know such stuff, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46am
dan in wisconsin:

I suppose we'd be better off reading Daniel Quinn's Ishmael, perhaps?
