I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

This song title is actually a standard raga-format name (there are tons of them):

"Raag Basant Mukhari is a sweet melodious form among morning Raagas. It is however difficult to render smoothly. The combination of Raag Bhairav as (S r G m) in Poorvang and Raag Bhairavi as (P d n S') in Uttarang demands both concentration as well as full preparation through intensive training or Riyaz.... This Raag can be expanded in all the three octaves. [It] creates a soothing atmosphere."

Bryce, I did actually work at MI5 (not 6) for a while (contract, not staff) and, disappointingly, it was actually fairly dull. The best thing, though, was that due to all the transmission aerials on top of Thames House, they had an in-house falcon which would fly around overhead scaring off all the pigeons. He was called Monty if I remember rightly.

@agnes - oh yeah, with very, VERY few exceptions the master-disciple thing is the way it's done with indian classical. there are different "schools," called gharanas, with different styles. sometimes it's entirely kept within one family.

Jog-kauns (which you played before) is a combo of two older/existing raags, Raag Jog and Raag (Chandra-)kauns.

you know what's not in that category, but really incredible.....Roon. so very money, tho.

but REALLY NICE! and it's proprietary transport protocol will actually sync up a thing being streamed to multiple rooms at the same time (quite a feat)

This has been a RagaRific show, Bryce. Gotta skedaddle now, I'll catch all you RagaHeads on the flippity flip.

Handy Haversack:

Michael, yes, thanks, friend! She slept thirty out of thirty-six hours, took a few rounds of Benadryl, and came through OK. It was scary when it first jumped off, though, that's for sure.

Yeah, Threemoons, the precarity economy. Ain't it grand?

Later on, coela!

Oh WOW. Roon looks TASTY.

Handy--oh noez is Kate recovering from the Shot? Mom had her 2nd Moderna yesterday; she is sleeping and flopping "like a latke" and not moving generally but she is in good spirits. I reminded her to hydrate. As she put it, "at least I know it's working."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm
Threemoons:

RE Roon--best way to get CDs onto it? My biggest holdback from any digital library is that I have about 600 CDs to rip to it. AND...I once had a proprietery RAID system (meh) with about 300 albums on it that decided to die.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm
Handy Haversack:

Oof, Threemoons -- but she's right!

No, Kate found out she'd developed a penicillin allergy after getting penicillin at the dentist along with a screw in her jaw! That was unpleasant indeed, but she's all recovered now. The best upshot of it all was that while laid up she managed to move her vaccine appt. up by a month from April 8 to next week!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50pm
Threemoons:

Handy--Ouch re reaction--that can be VERY dangerous; glad she's OK. For future reference, have her get a Medic Alert tag-not the shitty ones from the drug store but the real thing. I have one for my neurological condition. Hang on, let me get linky for you...

Handy: www.medicalert.org I have been wearing a tag since I was 7. For penicillin allergies, it's important because if G-d forbid you are injured and can't speak for yourself it's pretty standard to give you a honking load of the stuff.

Is roon kinda like Sonos, which I like plenty?

bird watchers in the list: saw a woodpecker while hiking in Forest Park (Queens) the other day. Possibly a red-bellied woodpecker, but didn't have time for a good ID. Highlight of the hike!

@handy: we had a dead tree for awhile in the backyard (RIdgewood) and would get a hairy woodpecker in the autumns. Foolishly took out that tree.

Niall:

Threemoons: the speakers sound good, stay in sync and generally it does what it says on the tin. It’s not great for video-audio sync, but that’s not really Sonos’ problem. Anything you want to know in specific?

Niall--yeah, does it have a music storage appliance option? I have about 600+ CDs that need ripping. I tried years ago on a proprietary RAID; when the shitola RAID case broke, I lost hours and hours of rip time...
