A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

If Gaylord is an intriguing bit of classy cinema - Trouble is a midweek walk thru an airy but fascinating Museum...

@Dayffid & Trouble: I enjoyed Macdonald's book. Mix of personal memoir, historical gloss of falconry, investigation of T.H. White's works/biography, all through the lens of the problematic but interesting human-animal "relationship" born by falconry. Perhaps a bit overpraised, but I liked it. I did dip into Glenway Wescott's "The Pilgrim Hawk" beforehand, so I had hawks on the brain.

Just remember folks, we have lost most of the monarch butterfly. In one year we lost close to 80%. I now grow lots of milkweed in my permaculture garden.
Many if not all weeds are edible or have medicinal purposes for people and critters. Grow weeds and mushroom. Some butterfly caterpillars love dill and fennel, like the swallowtail butterfly. The plants get so large the critters do little damage.
It's all about a balanced ecosystem.

The Senate, on the other hand, simply gives two Senators to each state. As I understand it, this was the compromise reached by the framers of the Constitution. It was intentional.

It was intentional, an intentional sop to the Slave Power and anti-democratic forces. Senators were also originally appointed by state legislatures and thus not directly elected until 1913 (when the 17th Amendment was ratified). It was anti-democratic then and it's anti-democratic ramifications/effects are even worse now.

You cannot tell me it makes no difference Biden was elected & not Drumpf. Please.
People of Color know what it comes down to on the street - & they got our butts out of the sling @ the Polls. Make no mistake about it !!
You might say Voting for the Lesser of Two Evils makes no difference. I put it to you that Not Voting for it does make a demonstrable & irrefutable difference! : Voter Turnout in the USA is usually abysmal.
