	1:54pm adrian elaine: @Mike W - ZM Dagar is part of a family that played a specific form of classical Indian music called Dhrupad - so there's other Dagar family members (esp. the vocalists - you could search for Dagar Brothers) who could be interesting for you. And checking out other Dhrupad musicians could be fruitful as well.

Used to listen to the raga show on WKCR, but I didn't keep up with it for one reason or another. It's life-affirming.

	♥ 2:03pm Bryce: @mike w - funny, was just about to say what adrian elaine said, hahaa. gosh, i'll have to think about that tho. i really, really love imrat khan. he usually goes from 0 to a million by the end of a raga, but always starts out super slow and low on the surbahar. sometimes his single notes trace out these unbelievably elaborate filigrees. totally intoxicating. lalmani misra also just popped into my head. he played the vichitra veena, which is voiced by stopping the strings with a large smooth stone about the size of a chicken egg. that makes it almost impossible to be flashy, so vichitra veena players (that i've heard anyway) tend to tug on time a lot.

	♥ 2:03pm Bryce: @mike w - funny, was just about to say what adrian elaine said, hahaa. gosh, i'll have to think about that tho. i really, really love imrat khan. he usually goes from 0 to a million by the end of a raga, but always starts out super slow and low on the surbahar. sometimes his single notes trace out these unbelievably elaborate filigrees. totally intoxicating. lalmani misra also just popped into my head. he played the vichitra veena, which is voiced by stopping the strings with a large smooth stone about the size of a chicken egg. that makes it almost impossible to be flashy, so vichitra veena players (that i've heard anyway) tend to tug on time a lot.
