Just to see how my brain operates, I once organized show w/ the bands Argentina and Buenos Aires, just so the flyer could say, "Buenos Aires, Argentina", just to confuse people...

@rw: Gainesville, FL. 1999. Argentina was a local band led by Argetinian-Americans (also on my soccer team), and Buenos Aires was one of my best friend's band from HS in Jacksonville. (he just like the city's name).

Free beer... man, the first punk club I started going to (probably 1980-81) had no liquor license so they ran it as a private party; $5.00 donation at the door, no ID and free beer in large styrofoam cups. Ah, young-adulthood... But by 1999 that sort of thing was getting rare, wasn't it? Or was that the era of the pop-up club? I wasn't really going to those sorts of shows back then. In any case, drunk crusties digging Noise Fest DOES sound like a good time. You're a good man, ngh.

@rw: I had bands from FL, AL, TN and GA. Since most noise shows I went to or played at maybe got the same dozen people, I decided to do something audacious to get people in the door (it was my friends'' loft, an abandoned warehouse). Most of the indie kids left after a couple beers, but the crusties rocked!

(Of course, that was the same year I saw Fugazi at a medium-sized venue for $5). We had to police the frat boys from harassing the women, even getting ian mackaye calling them out on their behavior. (I got into that show for free, as I knew the opening bands).
