Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

As nice as that version of One Mint Julep was, without the comical narrative of consequences it looses the completely relatable action-reaction story compression that makes for a tale of human weakness that is both universal and personal at the same time.

Possible set theme for Uncle Mike: Every song has at least one cuss word. Start with Steve Earle's "Fuck the FCC."

@brian i did not know that
pete thomas played w/dave stewart
got to hang w/pete a few times later
good guy, funny and relaxed
in 1979 john mcfee was carlene carter's
music director
and ex-clover bassist
the late john ciambotti
was carlene's manager

@Franco yeah, I really liked the whole "surprise" vibe of his pics back then, even when they were staged. Kind of added to the spontaneous feel to the whole punk thing when he was capturing that crowd, even though we know better now. Punk rockers and their uniform of individuality...

johnk77, this was the concert that John Stewart came over to play. Zigzag was a great fanzine, how would we learn of any thing American then without them.

Yes, That 'stagey' thing was very important in creating the overall effect. I seem to remember Moshe worked in that crevice between high fashion and punk. Two social groups that really wanted to get in the magazines.
