@Franco I actually had the crazy idea of doing something with peaches and black beans. Looked at a few different recipes online and put together my own version as I do with all of my creations. Turned out to be a delicious combo when paired with some red onion, lime juice, and avocado!

My favorite Oaxaquena recipe I made is huitlacoche (corn fungus) soup, w/ potatoes, yams, corriander, cumin, salt and pepper, and of course, chilies...

@Franco: In the US, huitalcoche is a pest, and is eliminated. In Oaxaca, it's a delicacy.

@Ike: The large jar types are ok, but I recommend the canned type. I've only seen the canned type at one Mexi store in Brooklyn, and one in Spanish Harlem. I usually have my mother-in-law send me some. You can also make huitlacoche tacos.

@Franco: As ypu know, I'm I'm food snob. It reminds me what my parents used to pass as "pizza". It was still better then most of their cooking. (for some reason, they picked up Japanese curry really well, while living there).

It works, you know? I use to get a slice at Bus Stop Pizza on Divis at Haight. It was puffy, hot and cheesy. I'd walk down the street stuffing it my mouth with no guilt whatsoever.

Seefeel is one of my fave bands from my teen years.

I went Thurs-Sat fasting, mainly b/c I was bored by the culinary options here (wish I had a kitchen). I used to fast since I was in the third grade (when I told my fundie parents, I was an atheist) when I was bored or depressed, no spiritual enlightment ensued, or did it? (that's the Zen of the matter).
