Last trip was 1998,spring. It WAS a doozy! Wetlands, Grey Boy All-Stars, jammin mandolin afterwords on the street with a Hasid, and a hippy. Driving back to Brooklyn where every light turned green for me. Didn’t have to stop once all the way back to Ft. Green.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27pm jj.:

in fact, that neil young version came from an all-louie louie marathon in 1983. www.louielouie.net...

  9:33pm MONEYBAG$:

Did everybody’s elementary school have an urban legend about a guy in a van giving out “temporary tattoos” with the sorcerer’s apprentice on them? They sent letters to the parents about it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35pm Troymo:

I heard that urban legend before.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36pm jj.:

the mickey mouse "tattoo" legend was pretty famous! there's an even better page that i can't find right now (with scans of typical letters sent to parents), but: erowid.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39pm jj.:

aha, found it. sadly, a deceased web site, but insanely comprehensive. web.archive.org...

I don’t know how many years went by (20+)until one day I was just sitting around and suddenly thought, “those Mickey Mouse tattoos were hits of acid!”

Happy bicycle night!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm jj.:

yeah, i found a whole ton of johnnie the bulgaria, but not a lot with the band, only this single.
Swag For Life Member 10:05pm ze boocherie:

This tune was composed by Eddie Durham, who is credited with playing the first electric guitar solo on a jazz record. There's a modestly interesting podcast profile of him at this link, with his daughter by the name of Topsy doing the talking! www.jazzonthetube.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07pm jj.:

wow, super cool, thanks @boocherie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm chris_in_space:

Really good to be buzzin' out with y'all tonight.
@Barney Grubbs Cool link!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17pm McGroovey:

I think Myron Florin is even better listening while stoned!

  10:18pm Joeybug69:

Just popping in from the immediate future to wish you all well! And if I’m not mistaken 4/16 was the good doctor’s 1st accidental ingestion of the compound, and 4/19 was his first intentional experience. At least that’s what he recounts in his autobiography.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm jj.:

d'oh! we only have the promo 12" that the record company sent out to radio in 1971. excerpts only! i've never heard the whole thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm Franco Twinkie:

Bicycle day, sure enough. I saw Albert Hoffman deliver a lecture some time ago at The Scottish Rites temple in Los Angeles. He was kind of hard to understand with his thick Swiss accent, unlike Terence McKenna who was the warm up act, and put on a dazzling display of magic infused palaver.
  10:31pm Beep Boop:

Fave song of 2021 thus far
  10:32pm McGroovey:

I've heard that Waiting For the End of the World doing before somewhere, but I don't see a song with that title on that playlist.
  10:32pm beavo:

@jj Oh man, whoever edited that was not paying attention. it goes on a little longer and a lot of funnier if you hear the whole thing. Thanks for trying anyway great show!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm Troymo:

Terrence was a special force.
  10:34pm beavo:

I’ll send you a CD copy of the album I’d send you the LP but I only have one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34pm jj.:

thanks @beavo, i can track down some audio. i'll have it in time for the next holidays.
  10:38pm beavo:

Yes that’s true it’s probably on YouTube anyway
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39pm Franco Twinkie:

I agree Troymo. But a showman is judged on the merits of his performance, and Terrence was basically doing the same routine he had been doing for years. The Chuck Berry of the exploding universe he was.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41pm McGroovey:

Ah. The confusion was mine. I was listening to WFMU on the app on my phone, and suddenly my phone decided it wanted to open its music player and play Marshall Holland instead of Ragenap or wherever was playing.

Machines.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46pm Troymo:

Interesting perspective Franco. I can see that from hearing him talk numerous times on late night radio shows.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm Steve from Dunwoody:

I am mighty surprised how well the last 40+ mins of droning interrupted by squonks has gone with light housework cleaning up stuff around here in my wife's absence. Frow on!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm Steve from Dunwoody:

OK, it's the bourbon.
  10:53pm cvh:

this is fantastic stuff... reverb and drone and brass.... lovely
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53pm Franco Twinkie:

Troymo, I might have come off as glib, but in reality (or un- reality as the topic might factor in) I too was enthralled with his late night yarn spinning on KPFK in L.A. when I was a young seeker, or stoner if you prefer. Terrance was a forward scout and came back with wild tales of another world.
  11:01pm renato:

What a show! Thank you

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09pm jj.:

hello @carmichael, @mb, & all other ether creatures.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10pm jj.:

@Franco + @Troymo, i seem to recall erik davis's "high weirdness" getting into some material about how terence developed his shtick in later years, but yeah, a lot of greatest hits, as it were.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18pm chresti:

I thought it was hilarious!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19pm Franco Twinkie:

JJ, it's funny how we can be both a sceptic and a true believer while stuck to our seat with a big wad of bubble gum.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm chresti:

I think of the Viper in Ain't Misbehavin' went I think of Viper Day.
