ROMA MOTOR N
Avatar 12:17pm
Otis:

Motor Manor's chain of dirt motels have proudly served countless counties from coast-to-coast. While Roma went out of business many years past, we pride ourselves on serving the same vintage stock stored in our climate-controlled cellar. A bottle of 1947 Roma Sherry? Bottoms up! Please inquire with our concierge in the fourth office for all of your wine and accoutrements.

* out of ***** Went to visit some friends who had to stay there for an extended period of time and their room was just awful. Mold all over the bathroom, floor and entryway. One of the headboards was missing with part of the hardware broken apart. The owners were rude and not very accommodating. Will be reporting to the health department.

StringOFperils:

Eno sounds quite young and new to those 1980n thoughts at that point, like someone who is still at art school. The statements seem self-evident to me now, but at the time these ideas were still new to him. And me I suppose. Now it's simply known history that we hadn't yet internalized. Like looking back in wonder at childhood. The notion of adding 6% of newness to what one is tweaking seems much less of a concern now, as does the notion of high art or innovation or even cultural import. The marketing of momentary novelty and notoriety to micro-publics is more evident in this world where no one is really committed to anything at all, aside from engineering potential capital streams that have a life-cycle akin to the Higgs boson. In an eternal present suspended moment, it's all FODDER.

Idle hands connected to an idle mind, Sondy. I'm in a kind of limbo these days. A bit of a laugh. :)

At this remove, it's hard to believe some of the utter stupidity that was thrown down as critical thinking in guise of punk ideology.

@Franco: AGREED! I even have a review from my High skool punk/comix fanzine where I blame Eno for "making Bowie boring!" - it was half tongue-in-cheek, but only a couple years earlier I honestly BELIEVED THAT 100% (in my defence, I WAS only 13, & had had a HELLUVA shock when buying Bowie's "Young Americans" LP (tho i know this PrE -Eno...! (Blush AND LoL!)
