Hi Paul from Toronto, Olivia, K8, and bukowski! Happy Mother's Day!

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...ambient with some tension - is that like me drinking caffeine to listen to a Buddhist podcast ? Cause - do that...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

This is good on a Sunday joe ! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14pm
joe mulligan:

hahaha @RevRabbit! caffeine and a Buddha is pretty accurate.

Cool!

?:

are you from the philly area... I thought I heard a special something when you said "phone"
  5:18pm
headcleaner:

If you like this, wait till you hear PDP VIII and PDP XI
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, Joe. Sounds good tonight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm
joe mulligan:

What's up Ike! how's the signal where you are? Ken from Hyde Park, thanks for tuning in
  5:23pm
headcleaner:

(that was intentionally bad geek humor - the sequence of letter's in the band's name, followed by certain numbers, are a trigger for anyone who came of age computer-wise, at a certain age. for example, here's the pdp-8: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PDP-8#/media/File:PDP-8.jpg)
Avatar 5:24pm
K8:

Really digging this David Granstrom track...feels very cinematic. Or maybe I'm just editing too many videos these days...but I want to collage some video images to this...already doing it in my head...so good...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:25pm
joe mulligan:

oh wow Headcleaner I bet they named the band for that reason. @K8 you are right.. I'm also a big fan of Devon's show
Avatar 5:27pm
K8:

@Joe--when is Devon's show? I'm not familiar...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm
Paul from Toronto:

@K8 Tuesdays 7 - 8pm
  5:29pm
headcleaner:

Interestingly, Wikipedia says of the PDP-3: "First DEC-designed (for US "black budget" outfits) 36-bit machine, though DEC did not offer it as a product. The only PDP-3 was built by the CIA's Scientific Engineering Institute (SEI) in Waltham, Massachusetts to process radar cross section data for the Lockheed A-12 reconnaissance aircraft in 1960."
Avatar 5:30pm
K8:

Ah, that's Morricone Island...got it. I am familiar! Also, Joe, Handy says hi and that he's sorry to miss the show right now but he'll check out the archives.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm
Blobs:

I am loving all of this -- WFMU does not play enough electronic music!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:32pm
Webhamster Henry:

Don’t get me started on PDP 8s - I can probably still toggle the RIM loader blindfolded.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm
Gaylord Fields:

Hi, Joe! Enjoying the program.

@Blobs: You may be listening at the wrong times, because WFMU plays a lot of electronic music.
Avatar 5:35pm
Niall:

This sounds weirdly COIL-ish.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35pm
joe mulligan:

Thanks @K8! Handy is the best. Hi @Gaylord, you're my hero! Much appreciated @Blobs, when I was scanning the searches Polyglot with Jesse Dorris had the most overlap with this kind of music.
  5:36pm
headcleaner:

@Blobs - check out Fabio, Shrunken Planet, Bryce (on some weeks) and others I'm neglecting for sure
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm
Gaylord Fields:

@headcleaner @Blobs: …and Radio Ravioli with Radio Row's own impresario Olivia, of course.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm
Webhamster Henry:

Not to mention Ridgewood Radio on the Drummer stream - often from live electronic performances.
  5:39pm
headcleaner:

Said to Webmaster Henry at his next job interview: "That sounds impressive, as does your demonstrated ability to write device drivers in hexademical. But how's your React?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

On the road now, Joe, and streaming on the app (I'm not at the wheel). Hyde Park is on the fringe of 90.1, so I also use the app while in my car nowdays anyway.
  5:42pm
headcleaner:

so right of course, Gaylord - Olivia's so all over the map that I often forget I'm listening to the radio, let alone what categories of music she plays (when it's music). Her program is more like hearing my own spinal cord tell stories to me (or sing lullabies)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:42pm
joe mulligan:

when driving to the catskills or the adirondacks and see the signs for Hyde Park, I often think what number on the FM dial would Ken From Hyde Park tune into?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm
Webhamster Henry:

@headcleaner let me gently remind you that the PDP8, having 12 bit words, was programmed in octal, not hex. Somewhere out there is a JavaScript emulator for it, that I’m sure could interface with React in a nice Wordpress plugin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44pm
Webhamster Henry:

I will stop now and complement Joe on his flute set here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm
Webhamster Henry:

You can get WMFU in parts of Poughkeepsie, and can probably pick it up at Top Cottage, FDR’s little hideaway in the hills.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm
Mark Hurst:

Enjoying the show today, Joe!
Avatar 5:49pm
K8:

@ Joe and Ken--I'm pretty sure I've been in the car with Handy on the way to the Catskills in the past year, seen the signs for Hyde Park, and had Handy ask that exact same question. So Ken, you're in our brains. And Hyde Park...where I've never been, I don't think...I bet Bagpipe would like it, though...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm
Paul from Toronto:

great show, Joe, thanks. We have to head out to get our shots. Bye all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Haha! I should make some big "Ken From" stickers and modify those signs. 🛣️
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm
joe mulligan:

Thanks Henry! it's always good to hear WFMU when travelling on the road. Mark Hurst! I purposely un-named the search engine just for you!!! Thank you for listening Paul from Toronto!
Avatar 5:52pm
K8:

Yes, Ken! Make those stickers! Thanks so much, Joe, this has been a lovely hour...really digging this Gwydir track, too...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm

Woa that would be amazing Ken from HP! Hahah.
Thanks for the show today Joe!!
Hoping everyone is having a good Mother’s Day ⭐️

The clicking of the cosmos...slicing through this dark night...and the trees all whisper...and the crickets glisten...I can't wait forever, make up your mind...GOOD LYRICS! I might be mis-transcribing, but...still..

Zip ! That was great ! Thx !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm

Splendid job, Joe (and thanks for the compliment)!
