Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Good ol' Todd! Finally got inducted into Jann Wenner's exclusive club, aka the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I was a student at Penn in Philly from 1964-69. Caught Todd's early group, the Nazz, a couple of times. He's come a long way since then. They used to say he would produce an artist's record for $25,000 or do it for free. Not sure if he got psid to do "Bat Out of Hell," "We're an American Band" or "Skylarking," three of my favorite Rundgren production jobs.

Nothing wrong with Syl Johnson. Al Green has an unusual amount of personal charisma, though. On top of vocal magic. I've never seen women swoon as I did in a room with Reverend Green on the stage.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm
Uncle Michael:

No fair. Tom has four testicles. It'd be close.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm
StringOFperils:

Depends on the complexion of the audience. I think Al Green has the more subtle talent, personally. I saw him lay the mic down on the stage, right near the huge pile of long-stemmed roses that the ladies had put there, and then sing AT IT from about 20 feet away, in the most delicate high-flying tones. It really was DIVINE. Tom Jones is indeed a panty-magnet, but in the hallowed confines of Shea's in Buffalo, Al Green easily eclipsed Tom Jones.
