By my observation - Barbés is indeed taking social distance quite seriously -- masks are required up front + there's definitely never more than 12 audience peoples allowed in back
Avatar 1:06am
Toutevoix:

trapped & looped
that's funny
  1:06am
?:

We have the annoying 2 second loop .. That's the important thing
  1:07am
headcleaner:

re: Barbés: "required up front" as in "when not drinking" but it's sparsely populated (if at all) and there don't seem to be swarms and swarms of post-pandemic misanthropes bouncing around (as we have in, say, nearly all of the East Village)
  1:08am
headcleaner:

and it's a tiny room after all (up front), with the door always open
  1:08am
jesse in illinois:

i saw a jazz band last week at a simple winery and the barrels made for good social distance buoys
  1:09am
rich:

headcleaner yes barbes is serious i looked at photos of the sultan room though and i was trying to figure out how people were supposed to socially distance if the crowd exceeded 25-30 people
  1:10am
headcleaner:

@rich - right - and it's deep inside, multiple rooms and doors away from fresh air. I do miss it, though (the Sultan Room)
Avatar 1:11am
kaleidoscopey07:

I wanted to make a joke, but I bombed once tonight and got in trouble, so I better not.
  1:14am
headcleaner:

btw (now that it's warm) almost everyone sits outside at Barbés - which is quite nice, and something we couldn't do before. One of the silver linings of The Plague (like Rich's trailing echo button)
  1:15am
jesse in illinois:

dang the bugs lol here at home early june bugs are already buzzing the window screen, ooh the neighbors ac out the window just shut off for the nite
  1:19am
jesse in illinois:

yeah that trailing echo loop was some good ol simple button pushing bliss
  1:19am
headcleaner:

we must cherish our bug friends and their noise (and splatterings), jesse - in a few years they may not be around no more
  1:21am

(except for the sometimes airborne roaches in my apartment, that is... 'cause they'll be the last to go, for sure)

  1:24am

thought i posted this last night but when

(*SPOILER ALERT*)

joe took down my show in the midst of the last song it seems that it fell to the wayside. anyways here ya go:
and that brings the first show of my path back to normal to a close. as i assumed back in the studio means less participation with the audience but thousands more records to choose from for your entertainment. life’s a tradeoff and hopefully i can get back to a place where i can communicate and still provide a quality listening experience filled with a steady flow of segues, some transparent, some like a large rock appearing out of nowhere which you have to swerve to avoid, by doing so you find yourself standing outside of the film you didn’t know you were an extra in. off camera you decide it’s not too bad here, i’m gonna sit back, enjoy life, respect it, and stay tuned for how. a safe, healthy, and happy one everybody. thanks for the loan of your ears.
