Welcome to another “more music less talk” themed show with tons of new 2021 music for you + one flashback track from 1993. This week the featured single pick of the week on my WFMU show today is the excellent brand new San Francisco artists Baghead and A-1 (“What’s The Love For Then”) while the featured album pick of the week will be the brand new joint from San Francisco producer Unagi (“Beats For Rappers”) that I played a track off of last week. This week’s show (the finale in the winter/spring series befoe the WFMU Summer 2021 season kicks off next week, honors the 78th anniversary of the so called "Zoot Suit Riots" in Los Angeles (June 3rd-8th 1943). While the “Zoot Suit Riots” were nowhere near as devastating or deadly as the recently observed Tulsa race massacre (Black Wall Street) one hundred years ago, it stands as another example of this country’s racist history and similar to Tulsa it is an incident that many Americans want to forget and sweep under the carpet. So the opening mix today and the theme of today’s WFMU show will be on this topic with (over a Greg from ZONE 5 beat) samples from a bunch of documentaries and reports (all found on YouTube) on the Zoot Suit Riots.
