Dead's roots are much in Folk Musics - & Can relate to the KosmischeRawk / Krautrawk situation... I always come back to the Dead paying dues & really finding their groove in the AcidTests - where they might not even play & weren't the center of attention often as not... & I think they kept that sly nonaggressive way of courting the Muse... Can on the other hand relate to the Motorik groove - & I find the comparison to Hawkwind, KingCrimson or Van der Graaf Generator more satisfying... All Rawk that improvised &/or extended itself (that is - most Psychedelic Rawk) borrowed that from Jazz for even an idea of what to do @ all...

Dead's roots are much in Folk Musics - & Can relate to the KosmischeRawk / Krautrawk situation... I always come back to the Dead paying dues & really finding their groove in the AcidTests - where they might not even play & weren't the center of attention often as not... & I think they kept that sly nonaggressive way of courting the Muse... Can on the other hand relate to the Motorik groove - & I find the comparison to Hawkwind, KingCrimson or Van der Graaf Generator more satisfying... All Rawk that improvised &/or extended itself (that is - most Psychedelic Rawk) borrowed that from Jazz for even an idea of what to do @ all...
