	🛎 ♥ 1:06pm Handy Haversack: fred, that was actually a NYC-NJ line, the Seastreaks, which are big, fast commuter boats. They also go out in the Sound to Connecticut. I was, though, on the water when it happened, in a 29' canoe, taking out the public on Newtown Creek, maybe a mile from Bushwick Inlet, where the ferry ran aground. I heard the whole thing come over the marine radio, which was pretty damn wild. We'd actually had people in canoes in that inlet maybe an hour or so before, doing an oyster count as part of the harbor's Billion Oyster Project. Which is pretty scary. A boat that size has no business in that inlet, which usually sees only human-powered boat traffic.

	🛎 ♥ 1:06pm Handy Haversack: fred, that was actually a NYC-NJ line, the Seastreaks, which are big, fast commuter boats. They also go out in the Sound to Connecticut. I was, though, on the water when it happened, in a 29' canoe, taking out the public on Newtown Creek, maybe a mile from Bushwick Inlet, where the ferry ran aground. I heard the whole thing come over the marine radio, which was pretty damn wild. We'd actually had people in canoes in that inlet maybe an hour or so before, doing an oyster count as part of the harbor's Billion Oyster Project. Which is pretty scary. A boat that size has no business in that inlet, which usually sees only human-powered boat traffic.
