German keyboardist and composer Harold Faltermeyer discusses scoring 80s blockbusters "Beverly Hills Cop" (“Axel F”!!), "Top Gun," "Fletch" and "The Running Man," the latter was recently reissued by Varese Sarabande in a 35-track expanded edition. Starting at Deutsche Grammophon (engineering Stockhausen), Giorgio Moroder recruited Faltermeyer to Hollywood as his secret weapon on "Midnight Express," "Foxes," "American Gigolo," "E=MC2" and Donna Summer's "Bad Girls" (composing "Hot Stuff") before scoring his first Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer-produced film "Thief of Hearts." He returns in 2020 to compose for "Top Gun: Maverick." Go to faltermeyer.com for more info. (Aired 7/14/2020)
