Son of author Björn Hodell and brother of actress Ulla Hodell, Åke Hodell was trained as a fighter pilot, but after a crash during practice in July 17, 1941, he had to spend a few years in hospital where he became a dedicated anti-militarist. Hodell published his first text with the book "Flyende pilot" in 1953, and began experimenting with what he called "elektronismer", later known as "text-sound composition": a blend of radioplay and musique concrète focused on narratives and their electronic enhancements. Many radioplays were produced at Sveriges Radio, often with a strong political theme, such as the banned "Mr. Smith in Rhodesia" from 1969. From 1963 to 1972, Hodell ran Kerberos Förlag which published books by Öyvind Fahlström, Christer Hennix Lille, and himself, as well as translations of Vladimir Majakovskij and Arthur Cravan.

Wow! How did that happen?
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:06pm

Hi Franco!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm
Franco Twinkie:

Jan! It gonna be a hot one today, eh?
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:08pm

I hope so, Franco :-)

I'm happily imagining being in the ocean; it's going to be 114 in Phoenix today

Hiya Fred
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:13pm
Jan Turkenburg:

114, Feldpausch??/ I really hope we won't hit those kind of temps again this summer overhere...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm
Franco Twinkie:

Adam, I'll feel like a wussy pants crybaby(which I am actually)if I start complaining about the heat in Los Angeles. How do you do it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm
melinda:

hello everyone
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm
Feldpausch:

Franco, we stay indoors except to ocassionally go jump in someone's pool. You have to get outside by 6am and get back inside for the day by 7am or you will fry
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:19pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Melinda!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm
Feldpausch:

Jan, what are the hottest temps in the Netherlands? it's being reported we will hit 116 or maybe even 118 later this week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm
Feldpausch:

Hi Melinda!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm
fred:

Not getting anywhere near that kind of heat here, but I'm not eager to take a bus anyway. I'll have to tomorrow, most likely
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm
Franco Twinkie:

Okay, I know that fire drill, work - pool - work - pool. I think I'll go outside for awhile before the hammer comes down.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:24pm
Jan Turkenburg:

104 is considered extremely hot overhere. The heat record was broken last year and now stands on 105.2. Heatwaves with weeks of day temperatures round 36 occur (96,8 F) more and more the last two decades.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm
Feldpausch:

Good idea Franco. Get your fresh air while you can
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm
Feldpausch:

That's pretty hot Jan, considering the humidity you probably have
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:31pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Well, at the same time drought is becoming a problem more and more, especially in the east part of the country. We had an extremely humid spring, which barely compensated for two very dry years. Agriculture and bio diversity are both under pressure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm
Feldpausch:

We had a very dry year in 2020. Now we're hoping for more rain this year, especially with so many people moving here either from a California high-cost-of-living exodus or chasing new tech jobs
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:37pm
Jan Turkenburg:

I said: Journey through the body, but I meant this album by Johan Timman: www.discogs.com...
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:38pm
Jan Turkenburg:

So what we heard was an early version of the last track of that album.

Domenic:

Tom Waits, that was neat.
