Jeff, when we were in Utica, New Paltz was known as the drug capital of NY state. You could get anything there-I mostly wanted hash-but it was tough getting it off campus, but our "guy" always came through.

(Mr) Bill, I bet it gets plenty cold if you get closer to The Niagra, no?
Syracuse was our once a month trip. Amazing record town, There were 2, maybe 3 stores on the street going up the hill towards campus.

I heart Lamble and Hutchings!
Peggy and Mattacks were unbeatable but the earlier guys had a poetry and melodicism in their playing. Lamble was also a great mallets player. And gone at age 19. Jeez.

Irene, I agree. Yeah these composers were rarely credited. Makes me wonder when I first started looking for composer credits on tv shows?
Or movies? It would become an obsession, of course. Hell, I Shazam commercials! And I ain't alone.

Debussy, Satie, Milhaud/Les Six, Stravinsky. Then again Surrealist ballets are not gonna be everyone's cup of tea. And imagine the primal pounding of the music and dancing in The Rite Of Spring! Ballet is a music of delicacy, and here they are stomping around. No wonder it caused a riot!
