Was this Townsmen song a hit? It should have been. Hey LesleyK.
  2:29pm
Gerry from Miami:

"Do the Mouse, yeah! Do it in your house, yeah!" I go a long way back with Soupy. Used to watch "Eat Your Lunch with Soupy Sales" on Saturdays at noon in Boston when I was in 3rd grade. And didn't his sons grow up to be two-thirds of Davud Bowie's Tin Machine?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm

Thanks Mom Whig! Was out on my bike in this 100 degree weather. Dumb idea

  2:41pm
Gerry from Miami:

To tell you the honest truth, Denny, the only reason I joined Cub Scouts in that same time period was the cookies, cupcakes and muffins that the den mothers brought to the meetings. Yum! What a chow hound I was!
Avatar 2:45pm

@davefromtoronto - welcome! @Gerry from Miami - sounds reasonable to me! hey Hoboken Jack! can't seem to escape you of late - "not that there's anything wrong about that."
  2:48pm
Gerry from Miami:

MOM, I actually went to Catholic school from grades one through three. Some of those nuns were really mean but my memory of that time is pretty fuzzy. All I know is that when I transferred to public school in fourth grade, I could read and spell like a champ. Those ladies in black and white did a super job!
  2:50pm
Mike Conroy:

Hey y'all. (I am in ATL for a while.)
Avatar 2:50pm
MOM WHIG:

Gerry - I did 5th-thru 8th grade -- and it taught me tons - that to this day 60 plus years later I am thankful for the education back then. I do really well on Jeopardy. Public schools there after for sure. I know how to do diagrams with rockets for verbs, pronouns, adjectives on them! A valuable lesson.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50pm
Andrew in Toronto:

Hi there MOM WHIG!
Avatar 2:50pm
MOM WHIG:

Andrew - funny finding you here too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm

I did 12 years of Catholic school-elementary and high school. I stayed out of trouble but I saw some things. I have holy cards from when I won spelling bees.

MOM WHIG:

So, do you know Dave from Toronto - Andrew?
Avatar 2:52pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm
Andrew in Toronto:

I don`t believe I do.

Andrew - are you having the heat-wave there too? I just saw there a lot of Canadians are dead because of the heat.

Mike Conroy:

Billy Bremner'is Rockfiles band is doing some US dates soon

Dave Edmunds is so great! "I Hear You Knockin'" was one of the tunes that got me through my stint in Vietnam.
Avatar 2:55pm
MOM WHIG:

glad you made it here today Mike
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm
Dennis Diken:

I went to Catholic School for K & 1st then we moved to a different neighborhood in Carteret, NJ and my folks gave me the choice to continue there or change to the public school several blocks away - which I opted for. so glad I did, made some lifelong friends - and met a band mate!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm

I was blessed with really cool teachers and a bright, witty, curious, talented bunch of kids to go through grammar and high school with
Avatar 3:01pm
MOM WHIG:

Denny I still have an old classmate from back then -- 5th grade to now. She's in Wash state. Her Mom drove the school bus (they had 8 kids) , we only had 6 kids. So, a lot of us knew the others all thru grammar school, and HS and later in life. Good to have that old connection.

@MOM WHIG - that's wonderful! there are memories of profound life experiences one can share only with such folks! glad you dig this Cream tune, I like it too!
  3:05pm
Gerry from Miami:

MOM, I have been watching Jeopardy since the late 60s, when the late Art Fleming was the host and the dollar values for the first-round questions were 10-20-30-40 and 50 bucks!! I lived in LA for 37 years, but never got around to taking the written test to become a Jeopardy contestant. A teacher friend of mine took it twice, scored well, but never got the callback. Could have been her 350-lb. weight was a turnoff to the producers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm
LesleyK:

I did catholic school from 6-8th gr. That was the worst. The nuns were mean and hated my hair .. I did Cath all girls hs..that was better than middle school but they hated my hair there too(too punk for them I guess, ha ha). Even though I was the best student .
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm
LesleyK:

My power just went out here 😭
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm

I recently purchased a used cassette of Steppenwolf's Greatest Hits so I've been driving around town listening to that at somewhat high volume. Buy all the guns at once and explode into space! Oh Mars Bonfire.

- I sill do Jeopardy every night (even while on WFMU) - I have a good friend that we call each other at the Final Jeopardy answer. Still trying to get thru the Guest persons - since Alex is gone. You can still see Alex on Sat - there are repeats with him. Did you know he did Concentration too?? It's on the game channel daily here. He still has the dark hair and mustache.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm
Dennis Diken:

@LesleyK - oh boy, hope it comes back soon! re school - guess we all made it thru OK...I guess?
Avatar 3:11pm
MOM WHIG:

Denny - some still have battle scares! I was just talking to a good friend in Portland, Me - she lived here in VA all her life and also did all the grades at Catholic schools.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm
Woo:

MOM WHIG I record Jeopardy daily and have a backlog to get through. Who do you like for new host? Nobody has been awful but I thought Aaron Rodgers did a surprisingly good job and I think Ken Jennings would be good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm
Dennis Diken:

re Jeapordy! - our fellow Denizen spurn was a contestant earlier this year - and frikkin' kicked butt!!
  3:12pm
Gerry from Miami:

MOM, yes, Alex was a Concentration host after Hugh Downs moved on to other projects. It was one of several game shows he hosted during his long career.
