Hello, all! Today's playlist art is by Honoré Sharrer. It's called "Resurrection of the Waitress," and is from 1984.

Hey Tony, and all groovers here assembled.
Just logged in and bloody Hell if it's not DAONA!
Avatar 12:08pm
Tony Coulter:

Heya, David! David puts the 'D" in Daona ... just like Dane puts the 'D' in DIM.

ahoy David (iL), the Da in daona!
Avatar 12:41pm
Tony Coulter:

I guess Daona's a better band name than Fivid.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:45pm
David (in London):

Well it started as something of a joke, then became a placeholder, and then we realised how much we actually liked it.
Avatar 12:46pm
TDK60:

Fivid would be a good name for a freake folke coven. Surprised fivid isn't an English word. Or is it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm
coelacanth∅:

a double entendre
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm
coelacanth∅:

this music's rather fivid
Avatar 12:48pm
Tony Coulter:

Just searched "fivid" on google: "Fivid Tablet is an antiviral medicine. It is used for the treatment of mild to moderate coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in adults."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm
coelacanth∅:

(daona's a double entendre, that is)
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:50pm
David (in London):

When I originally searched for Daona, the only hit was a moth of the genus Daona. Hence we adopted it as our logo.

Jeremy:

Greetings X 3 coelacantho....This is helping to bring down the temps and my heart rate...almost Portland like conditions in NYC today
Avatar 1:16pm
Tony Coulter:

Thankfully, our (Portland's) heat wave is very much over. It is currently 64 degrees.
Avatar 1:17pm
Tony Coulter:

(Not to make you envious, Jeremy.)
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:18pm
David (in London):

Whereas we are having a monsoon here today.
Hey Jeremy.
  1:23pm
Jeremy:

Hey David! I am lucky to have an old clawfoot tub in my apt, and am about to submerge myself in mercifully cold water....
  1:26pm
Jeremy:

I am fivid with anticipation
  1:28pm
Jeremy:

Very glad it has cooled down over there, Tony! Scary stuff!
Avatar 1:32pm
Tony Coulter:

Well, today is supposed to get up to 91, but after what we went through, that seems cool. (Plus, I doubt it really will get that hot, considering the temp now.)
Avatar 1:32pm
TDK60:

It's hot as a fivid in New York town today. "real feel" 100F.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm
spodiodi:

very pleasant here today, as usual (high of 68), but the trees look dangerously thirsty
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm
Rich in Washington:

That's been the one gift of the 'pressure dome'; everything under 100 degrees seems cooler.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm
Rich in Washington:

but our house was lush and green and when the heatwave hit, it was like a bomb went off and now everything's browner and deader, like it's almost Fall.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm
spodiodi:

we skated on that heat wave for the most part, but it's looking like fall here as well
Avatar 1:44pm
TDK60:

Good to hear Daona on the radio today David, Tony.
Avatar 1:51pm
Tony Coulter:

RIP, Louis Andriessen, who died last week.
Avatar 1:55pm
Tony Coulter:

Talking of dying, many of the plants in our backyard got fried during our heatwave -- but others seem like they enjoyed it. They have an extra glow to them.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:59pm
David (in London):

This is great.
Avatar 2:05pm
TDK60:

Took a quick peek at Andriessen's Wikipee page. Looks like he may have been an early one to mix the classical ensemble up with electric rock instruments like Glass and Reich did back then, early '70s.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:26pm
David (in London):

Rather annoyingly I have to leave the house now, so will have to catch the end of the show on the archive later. Thank you so much Tony for playing The Secret Assembly today.

Later groovers.
