David in California:

Hello again. I'm looking forward to hearing Del Shannon's cover of "Summer in the City".
Avatar 6:07pm
sw2442:

It's gonna be consistent here in Southern California for the next week...no lower or higher then 93-95 degrees during the day...the nights are, at least, comfortable.
Avatar 6:07pm
MOM WHIG:

Aitch - how is Covid there - are you all able to get the vaccines without much trouble?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm
Aitch:

No supply of vaccine except Astra, getting my 2nd tomorrow.
It's a shit-fight.
Very little Covid here, but keeping it that way requires lockdowns until more vaccine arrives.
Avatar 6:12pm
MOM WHIG:

Aitch -- I was wondering for your lock-down. I had the J&J back in March. But being older I still take care here.Just being in my son's house without a mask is great. My other one - not Richard Whig in San Diego.

David in CA - what's happening on the west coast?

And can someone tell the the good Lord that we've had enough rain over here in TX? Rainiest July I've ever seen! We are only in the 80's every day, but humidity is through the roof! I'm ready for it to dry out!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19pm
Candy-O'67:

Good to see you, too, Mom! I've been tuning in all afternoon, just been busy and hadn't jumped on yet :)
Avatar 6:21pm
MOM WHIG:

Candy - I missed most of OP - I took a nap from 3:30-5:30 - but then again I was up until 2am. Noisy fireworks around here.
  6:22pm
David in California:

It's going to get over 100 in my part of CA by the end of the week, Mom Whig, so I'm envying sw2442 his consistent temperatures. The covid situation is better than in a lot of other places.

Candy-O'67:

Hey, Woo!
Well, the rest of the Country will remain warmer than TX, it looks like, this week. No end in sight to the scattered thunderstorms and showers every day! I hate rain, dang it!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm
Candy-O'67:

I bet that was a nice nap, Mom 😊
Avatar 6:27pm
MOM WHIG:

Candy - out cold! But then again I stay up until 2am each night. I was watching old TV shows - Bewitched, I dream of Jeannie, That Girl - all the ones that Glynis had for Crayons tribute on Thursday's show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm
Candy-O'67:

So good, Mom! I love all those shows! I need to start watching them again. Which stream do you watch them on?
Avatar 6:29pm
MOM WHIG:

Moody Blues singing for coke!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm
Candy-O'67:

That's a good one, Moody blues
Avatar 6:30pm
MOM WHIG:

Candy no stream - I have CozyTV, MyTV Channels here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm
Woo:

It's been a while since I've seen That Girl but I have seen signs for Brewster, NY on the highway and the first thing I think of is the home of Ann Marie. Did she ever marry Donald Hollinger?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm
Candy-O'67:

I think I can get MyTV. I'll check it out

And babe, don’t you know it’s a pitty, the days, can’t be like the nights in the summer, in the city!

So good
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm
Candy-O'67:

I loved That Girl and Marlo Thomas
Avatar 6:36pm
MOM WHIG:

Woo - Don't think she ever did - they were engaged for a while. Don is real life died. 1996 (Ted Bessel) He was only 61.
Avatar 6:37pm
MOM WHIG:

PaulR1920 - yes, Summer in The City - loved Lovin Spoonful version better.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm
Woo:

Also a big fan of He & She, some episodes are on YouTube. Richard Benjamin and Paula Prentiss are still together! Jack Cassidy was great in that show.
  6:39pm
David in California:

After That Girl, Ted Bessel had another show called Me and the Chimp. It was going to be called The Chimp and I, but Bessel insisted on getting billing above the chimp.
Avatar 6:39pm
MOM WHIG:

Woo - good one too. Happy to have old show on a few channels here. Sunday I do 2 episodes of Dick Van Dyke.
Avatar 6:40pm
MOM WHIG:

David I saw that too. It was not until 1975 that Bessell would appear in another sitcom, as Joe Warner, the boyfriend of Mary Richards, for two episodes on The Mary Tyler Moore Show. In the 1980s, he appeared in several other television movies, including Breaking Up Is Hard to Do and The Acorn People. He also played regular roles on a pair of short-lived sitcoms, Good Time Harry and, in his last major role, Hail to the Chief, as the husband of Patty Duke's character, the fictional first female President of the United States.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm
Woo:

MOM WHIG, after all these years I caught an episode of DVD with Pickles in it a few weeks ago. I didn't think she ever appeared but I was wrong. Pickles Sorrell.
Avatar 6:43pm
MOM WHIG:

Woo - actually last night's episode she was in one. She's been on a few, but most of the time just mentioned on the phone, etc. Even after all these years the show still holds true.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:45pm
Woo:

Right you are MOM WHIG but I still find little Ritchie Petrie annoying.
Avatar 6:57pm
MOM WHIG:

Woo - yes, he is to be sure. All that were on that cast are gone - except Dick Van Dyke he's 95 now. Ritchie (Larry Mathews) is now 65.
Avatar 6:58pm
MOM WHIG:

I remember Summer Wine by Nancy Sinatra.
Avatar 6:58pm
MOM WHIG:

Eric - are you back yet?
  7:05pm
David in California:

It's enjoyable to see Rose Marie as a child star in the thirties. She sings a song well in International House.
Avatar 7:09pm
MOM WHIG:

David - yes, she was called Baby Rose Marie back in the day --she started at age 3. Just lost her 2017 - age 94
  7:12pm
David in California:

Mom Whig - she had a long career. I remember seeing her on Hollywood Squares after the Dick van Dyke Show.
Avatar 7:13pm
MOM WHIG:

David CA - yes, she was on that show for years.
  7:19pm
David in California:

Mom Whig - I recently saw a mention of Hollywood Squares in an article that said Peter Marshall was chosen as host over Dan Rowan of Rowan and Martin.

See y'all later. Going to yoga class. Really enjoying today's show!!
Avatar 7:21pm
MOM WHIG:

Candy - see you next time
  7:22pm
Dennis Diken:

@Woo - I think there were several actresses who portrayed Pickles. One was Joan Shawlee, a regular cast member of The Abbott & Costello TV Show, a comedic genius!
Avatar 7:25pm
MOM WHIG:

This is th eone from last night:Fiona "Pickles" Conway Sorrell (Barbara Perry/Joan Shawlee) – Buddy's slightly nutty wife and former showgirl. Pickles's first marriage was to a convicted con man who threatens to tell Buddy she was married to a jailbird unless she bribes him regularly. She becomes an off-screen character after season two.
Avatar 7:25pm
MOM WHIG:

Dennis - hey there.Dick Van Dyke Show trivia buffs will know Perry as “Pickles,” the wife of joke writer Buddy Sorrell (Amsterdam), on two first-season episodes of the famed sitcom. (Joan Shawlee took over the role for three installments in 1963.) And she was one of Murphy Brown's secretaries
Avatar 7:27pm
MOM WHIG:

Joe - you are right - there was also Barbara Perry as Pickles. I only remember the Joan Shawlee one
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm
Woo:

Thanks for the Pickles info! News I can use! How come there's no yodeling on this Five O Clock World Goes To The Beach?
  7:46pm
David in California:

I hadn't realized how good Chad & Jeremy were until Andrew's memoriam to Chad last December.
Avatar 7:47pm
MOM WHIG:

David CA - yes they were totally "under-rated".

Avatar 7:52pm

Hey jen good to see you here at the almost end of show.
  7:53pm
David in California:

uptown jen - I was just reading your right on comment about "Summer's Coming" from when this episode debuted: "Wow. Jonathan King sure sang some bummer songs."
Avatar 7:54pm
MOM WHIG:

Can't go wrong with Dusty - such a great song.
Avatar 7:58pm
