July 10, 2021: On Ka’a Davis emerged onto the scene of modern creative music makers perhaps being recognized at first by his recordings with the Don Ayler Septet. Davis guitared with the Sun Ra Arkestra leaving his contribution to the band with recordings and concerts.
Over the years of his career, Davis has engaged with seemingly every contributor to contemporary jazzes. Davis has recorded or has toured with Butch Morris, Luther Thomas, Sabir Mateen, Electric Meg Montgomery, Ludus Mokonis, William Parker to mention only a few. Davis has lead groups leaving recordings with Coup Rule, Cartoon Satellite, the X-Ray Searchlight Project, and the Famous Original Djuke Music Players. Under his publishing, On Mu Music, Davis has developed a catalog of more than 30 releases. Davis’ book, “Exerciricle; Keys to Museo-Ontology” is one of the very few books written that approaches the subject of museo-ontology. This book has been chosen for a course of study at Valdosta State University in Georgia.
