Fun and confusing, clarke. And the pandemic and Uber have destroyed taxis, so getting around late at night is ... complex. And of course the city and state, with a year of very limited ridership, have waited till now to start doing work on a bunch of subway lines. Greed and incompetence continue to carry the day, but the music sure sounds good!

The Lower East Side was like nothing I have ever seen -- thousands and thousands of 20-somethings queued up to get into clubs, the cops boxing them into club zones, hundreds trying to get cars. The ride-share things were apparently charging $100 just to cross the bridge to NW Brooklyn.

They wrote a book about it, said it was like ancient Rome.

oh it's MovieTime!!
re=saw Body Heat (TCM has modern noir on fridays, which is COOL) - Body Heat stands up rather nicely especially being from the 80's!

hey Jack!

Dennis Diken:

Interestingly, The Rip Chords (nee The Opposites) were a real group that Terry Melcher and Bruce Johnston produced and eventually lead (vocally) in the studio. There’s info on Wikipedia. The original members can be heard singing lead on one or more cuts on the Hey Little Cobra LP.

well, jack it is pretty great to see after many years. i will give you a tidbit to look for - or a few, if you want them beforehand?

re: Body Heat. Mickey Rourke incredible in his scene-really gets your attention- and Ted Dansen is also good. Great movie.
  11:38am

yeah, i didn't think it would stand up that well.

ok: i didn't know this until last night: the whole movie is supposed to be during a heat wave in south florida, but ironically, the time they FILMED the scenes, there was a cold front that was stuck over florida, so all the sweat is fake.

Re Body Heat - it was so cold out in the scene where Ned first meets Matty, the cast had to suck on ice-cubes in order for their breath not to show on camera.

Ted Danson, when asked about the film, said it was storyboarded so precisely, a high-school could make the movie, and if they followed the instructions, it would come out exactly the same.
