Artist Track Album Comments Images Approx. start time
Dan Plonsey  L for Legitimate   Favoriting Understanding Human Behavio [sic]  One of my favorite CDs from the old Clamazon catalog. I couldn't find the CD in time so I'll be playing a bit of this off bandcamp.

Instant Response  Dance With Decision   Favoriting Modus Operandi  I used to see lead singer Darin at church and in the community boys choir with my brothers. I believe he is now a professor at BYU. He is bottom left on the cover.

Instant Response  Ugo Dreams in English   Favoriting Modus Operandi  CurrentIy local cassette collectors are scrambling over copies of this tape. I spoke to Bruce Hill on bottom right over the phone a year ago. Apparently my brother Brett was one of their roadies helping lug equipment to play at the Classic Skating rink here in Ogden circa 1985. He also stated that there was no drummer, just four guys with keyboards. He didn't have any known copies of the album himself.

Instant Response  Locked in Vacancy   Favoriting Modus Operandi  I remember one of the guys in the background of the cover photo as he was around our house now and again with my older brother. I hear a rumor that he has 3 unreleased songs from the sessions of this cassette.

1:31:03 (Pop-up)
Instant Response  The Source   Favoriting Modus Operandi  I believe this is a song about God. Little brother of band member Bruce Hill became a pretty successful country singer around here. That brother was in my grade. In elementary school I saw the little brother use some of these synths to perform original compositions at a 3rd grade talent show. That stuff I would LOVE to find if it was ever recorded!

Instant Response  Flash To Disperse   Favoriting Modus Operandi  These 6 songs are it from Instant Response. They graduated high school and went their separate ways. Leaving I feel one of the best bedroom synth albums I've ever heard. I've been a fan of this tape since 4th grade :)

Hi BC, here for the new waves.

MHLee:

Hello, I've not caught this before but I'm something of a fan of the idea of lost media myself. I spend a lot of time trying to identify mystery songs appearing on the net.
Avatar 2:00pm
BC Sterrett:

Hey Otis and MHLee! Hopefully these first tracks don't scare you off. lol
Avatar 2:04pm
Oboe Fodder:

I missed the whole Clamazon catalog when it was about or maybe I'm spacing but did not register it at all until you mentioned it on Lost Media. Something I would have totally dove into. You may have mentioned it to me on a visit and I had a donut in my mouth and was distracted.
Avatar 2:05pm
BC Sterrett:

It was kind of a catalog that said, if you like The Residents, you'll probably like this stuff...
Avatar 2:06pm
BC Sterrett:

Identifying mysterious songs on the net is all part of Lost Media Archeology.
Avatar 2:06pm
Oboe Fodder:

To quote the resi's... 'make me moo' Clamazon.
Avatar 2:06pm
BC Sterrett:

This cd will all make sense in a minute I promise.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm
MHLee:

I came across a similar work in 2016. I was just checking what came up if you searched Bernie Sanders on spotify. Found a song like this called Bernie Snader-Pizza Rat or something.
Avatar 2:09pm
Oboe Fodder:

Spoken interludes, check. Family photos on cover, check. Produced by Mr Wacky, check. Success.
Avatar 2:11pm
BC Sterrett:

Those things were a win for me as well!
Avatar 2:12pm
BC Sterrett:

I gave Irwin a copy of this back in the day. It looks like it has gotten a bit of WFMU airplay in the past.
Avatar 2:12pm
Oboe Fodder:

Next week is the last show for Lost Media correct? Until you return one day in the future...
Avatar 2:12pm
Oboe Fodder:

Nice, go Irwin!
Avatar 2:12pm
BC Sterrett:

Yes. I still have not idea what the last show will be like.
Avatar 2:13pm
Oboe Fodder:

More Lost and Found media.
Avatar 2:14pm
BC Sterrett:

Yes and maybe just a lot of favorite odds and ends
Avatar 2:14pm
Oboe Fodder:

Oh wow, flashback... writing Found just remembered the NPR show Lost & Found Sound. Need to revisit that one again.
Avatar 2:15pm
Oboe Fodder:

Next week I will dig out your set on FP from 2010 and that interview we did on WGN in Chicago in 2005.
Avatar 2:17pm
BC Sterrett:

aww. I hope it's good. lol. Gonna attempt a cassette now.
Avatar 2:20pm
BC Sterrett:

A cover of Joy Division?
Avatar 2:22pm
BC Sterrett:

I don't remember this track. ha
Avatar 2:25pm
Oboe Fodder:

This is great!
Avatar 2:27pm
BC Sterrett:

There are more tracks than I remember. My original timed plan may be thrown off. Oh well... lol

This tape gets even better later on when they SING!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm
MHLee:

Have you ever heard of the Most Mysterious Song on the Internet www.rollingstone.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm
MHLee:

There's a community around it looking for it and other songs. I prefer the search for the other songs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm
MHLee:

This reminds me of the DEVO work for Rugrats
Avatar 2:37pm
Oboe Fodder:

Nice MHL, did not know about this Mysterious Music, reading now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm

Is it live or is it Memorex????

Maxell XL-IIs High-Bias for you Solo!

Let’s change knife to cotton ball.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm
MHLee:

I'm working on getting a blues show together in the other room... some of the tracks I'm playing originate on BEWARE OF THE BLOG
Avatar 2:43pm
BC Sterrett:

I was gonna be part of Beware the Blog but the technical learning curve was too complicated for me at the time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm
MHLee:

I feel you. I just started a blogspot about two weeks ago (not officially launched yet) and I have no idea what I'm doing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm
MHLee:

That made me jump
Avatar 2:49pm
BC Sterrett:

When the oboe came in? lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm
MHLee:

Yeah, I though it was a car alarm!
Avatar 2:51pm
Oboe Fodder:

I would pre-order tickets to catch Dan Plonsey live.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm
solo mon:

Oboe scarier than a knife beside your eye.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm
chresti:

Hi BC and lost party!
Avatar 3:08pm
BC Sterrett:

Hi Chresti! Just in time for more Oboe music :)
Avatar 3:10pm
BC Sterrett:

I would be front row to see Dan Plonsey perform this album as well Otis! (with ear plugs of coarse)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm
Little Danny:

I am digging these tones.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm
fred:

Hi BC and all. I guess you could get a show out of the calls you made to people who didn't (want to) remember these records/tapes
Avatar 3:19pm
BC Sterrett:

Hey Fred and Danny! Sorry was on the phone. Yeah the guy didn't seem to keen on talking about this tape.
Avatar 3:20pm
BC Sterrett:

This is the better side of the tape. Love these vocals and lyrics :)
Avatar 3:27pm
Mr Fab:

Ah, they gave out their names! Was wondering how you were able to track one of em down, w/no info on the tape. I was like, damn, BC's gooood..
Avatar 3:27pm
BC Sterrett:

ha ha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm
fred:

Well, BC's indeed good, but as a DJ, maybe not as a sleuth
Avatar 3:34pm
BC Sterrett:

I found someone who knew one of them so it wasn't too hard.
Avatar 3:35pm
BC Sterrett:

I was the guy who found the cast of Troll 2 however and held the first cast reunion. The documentary didn't want to tell my story however.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm
fred:

What?! They didn't think it was about you?
Avatar 3:37pm
BC Sterrett:

I did have to hire a private investigator to help me find the mom however.
Avatar 3:38pm
BC Sterrett:

The child actor had something against me maybe. Who knows. I helped him out finding most of the other actors none-the-less.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm
fred:

I can understand how that could help in the future: "either tell me who the other band members were on that tape, or I'll get a private investigator track down your mom and ask her for background"
Avatar 3:41pm
BC Sterrett:

Ha.
Avatar 3:41pm
BC Sterrett:

Ready for more Oboe Music?
Avatar 3:44pm
BC Sterrett:

I was talking about the actress who played the mom in Troll 2 if there was any confusion.
Avatar 3:45pm
Oboe Fodder:

"I have come here to put in earplugs and listen to oboe... and I'm all out of earplugs" - They Lived or something or other
Avatar 3:48pm
Mr Fab:

LOL^^
Avatar 3:48pm
Oboe Fodder:

Is this the start of the "Now That's What I Call Oboe!" series? Please, no. However, I would enjoy an all "Top of the Pops - Oboe Edition" covering Bowie, Slade and the like orchestred by, I dunno... Paul Mauriat and Percy Faith?
Avatar 3:50pm
BC Sterrett:

Please play Katie Perry and Taylor Swift on this Oboe!
Avatar 3:50pm
Oboe Fodder:

BC, you know how to close out a show with a blow (disguised as a bang)!
Avatar 3:51pm
BC Sterrett:

Looks like I have time to play the last couple tracks off this. See everyone next week for the final show next week :)
Avatar 3:51pm
Oboe Fodder:

I'll be here when it's there. Have a great week BC!
Avatar 3:52pm
Mr Fab:

gonna really miss this show...
Avatar 3:52pm
BC Sterrett:

Thanks Mr. Oboe Fodder!
Avatar 3:53pm
BC Sterrett:

I'll still be around now and again for more randomness probably ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm
fred:

What? Final show?
Avatar 3:54pm
BC Sterrett:

Yeah, had to make a choice to focus on some important life stuff like taking care of my parents, teaching another class, finishing a book, focusing on trying to have children etc etc.
Avatar 3:55pm
BC Sterrett:

I've played my all my fave tracks on this CD, I don't remember what this other stuff sounds like.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm
fred:

Hope you'll find time to fill-in/pop-in once in a while
Avatar 3:57pm
BC Sterrett:

Me too!
Avatar 3:58pm
Don-O:

I'm a sucker for ANY track with cheap Casio drum machine!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm
fred:

I think I understand what a time-suck a regular show can be, so thanks for what you gave us
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm
chresti:

How about 'Shittyflute Meets the Oboe"?
Avatar 4:00pm
BC Sterrett:

You should record it Chresti!
Avatar 4:01pm
BC Sterrett:

Thanks Fred. It wasn't a fun decision. See everyone next time, if you're around of course :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm
chresti:

Thanks BC! Have a good break! Come back soon!
Avatar 4:02pm
BC Sterrett:

I will definitely try!
