Favoriting Explorers Room with Flash Strap: Playlist from August 5, 2021 Favoriting

Flash Strap's avatar View Flash Strap's profile Favoriting

This is where all of culture and all of time are collapsed into one seductive portal and viewed through the panoramic lens of the exotic. Come and embark on an armchair-travel virtual-voyage to the heart of timeless darkness and beyond; embrace the numinous monolith of the exotic immensity. Let us find that place where hybridization meets its destiny as pure fantasy. Let us become observers observing those others who are ourselves. You wear your mask and I'll wear mine.

Oops! I rarely get a chance to tune into Pidge, so I didn't know. Living that night-owl freelance editorial lifestyle lately. Good luck trucking west. I hate moving, so that sounds terrifying to me!

Can the third Ike be a scary android? That would be exciting.

Not the most adventurous outing from Maestro Sauvage but always nice to hear him
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36pm

Vet spoken to, says it's OK just to keep an eye on him, watch for symptoms (which is what I thought they'd say), likely be OK (small chance of serious problems). Ozzie has been hospitalized twice for eating tons of chocolate he found (which is more understandable, but actually more toxic to a dog-rotted out his pancreas. He still has to eat very special food because of that). But I think he'll be fine (and not spot anywhere, ahem)

Hi ARB! sorry to hear it, desperately hoping Doc's dog takes more after LD's than your parents'

what LD said Doc!

Thanks, all! Ozzie is over 12, not a young puppy, but from what I'm reading, and the on call vet in Pittsfield said, usually they are more like LD's than ARB's (they do OK).

Nice to just be able to sit and listen for a bit (with an interruption by Ozzie); usually I'm listening at work, interrupted a lot and hard to comment much.

At home all the garbage receptacles are off the floor, up where Ozzie can't reach them. But we were careless, forgot to do that in the house we're vacationing in. One of his favorite tastes is licking my scrapes (usually from bike falls). Sweat after a workout is another real treat!

I was using clipless pedals on my bike (they actually have a post on the shoe that clips onto the pedal and connects it mechanically. You can disconnect by twisting the foot while pushing, so you can remove the foot from the pedal and catch yourself if you lean to one side). But I never quite got good at doing that really quickly (I can get the right out, but the left sometimes is harder, and takes a few seconds. But, if the balance of the bike shifts to the left, a few seconds can be too long. I just changed to a different kind of pedal that you can remove instantly. But I've had some embarrassing moments, just standing waiting for a red light, and I'll accidentally lean to the left and crash to the ground, often with scrapes and bruises). I've had some big injuries that likely relate to that a well, fractures (but excessive risk/trails I should have avoided are more to blame for these).

they were a sublabel of Bruton Music and associated with the larger library catalog of Southern Music, I think like many labels they were just trying to build a large and diverse catalog
Avatar 9:30pm
Flash Strap:

some labels do seem to have a particular purview of sorts, but many seem to be just striking out in all directions at once
Avatar 9:32pm
Flash Strap:

the whole thing was responding to trends on one hand, and on the other, trying to guess what the market would need before it needed it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32pm

It also seems like PIL stuff got more international distribution, no? Thus muddying the already murky library label waters?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33pm
doctorjazz:

This is one of the few (only?) Tracks that actually fall fairly neatly into a category (jazz). They mostly straddled, approximated, merged, parodied, or otherwise avoided a niche. Not that that's a BAD thing...
