@tim from washington: I bought a set of plugs from Etymotic several years ago. They seem to just drop the level without lopping off the high end like foam plugs.
  11:22am
Hi from Holland:

I always take earplugs just to be sure, not always needed but glad to have them when I do need them - and some technicians are just deaf - it is often a shame as loud just takes away from the music. Custom earplugs don't cost that much "per concert" and last a couple of years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23am

Mike W.:

I’d pay good money to get to see Alan Bishop smoke some cigarettes onstage again. Now there’s a man who still makes smoking look sexy, and violent.

Kim Deal, too, Mike W. I think I became addicted to cigarettes within ten seconds of the Pixies' coming out on stage when I saw them at age 15.

Damn, I just looked up the KC show I saw. It was actually 20 years ago. I feel old

“Ants on a Crouton” is my new favorite phrase. YETI, a friend of mine is going to KC at Ravinia. Blames the ticket purchase on being drunk at the time. I’m not making the hike.

Handy Haversack:

It's good the Pixies didn't play your hometown when you were young, Carmichael!

I quit five years, four months, and three days ago. It was not pleasant.

Nobody can make smoking look sexy. It's revolting.

@Handy - Good for you! Quitting smoking was a lot harder from me than quitting drinking even though alcohol was wreaking more havoc in my life. When I quit cigarettes, I started feeling better 3-4 months in and didn't feel like I was over the hump until the year mark.

Iirc, it's much easier to get physically addicted to nicotine than to booze

I think I went through a BIG Brave phase. but now sure when. probably coming down from something.

I still get cravings or have dreams of, say, taking in an entire cigarette in one breath or eating a cigarette sandwich or having a big bowl of cigarettes with my ants on a crouton.

Funny. My smoking phase was when homeless in SantaBarbara - lighting one Camel filterless with another. When I decided my lungs were not happy with that - I just stopped. Don't remember hardship.

Ah, quitting smoking talk.
I quit smoking 33 years, 9 months and 29 days ago.
Used to smoke everything, tobacco, pot, old tyres, you name it.
Since then zilch, nought, nada but I still have dreams of smoking, even now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51am

How many Miniature Minotaurs can you fit in a JAZZ Fannypack? I think we are only beginning to find out!
