Though I'm black/white, when she talked about her mom representing a wholeness/completeness of her Korean identity that was gone, I really resonated with that! I will have to check out the Dave Chang podcast with her!!

	4:19pm Marie: I always felt like if I was gonna go anywhere tropical I wanted to go to a different country but me and beau decided to check it out and chose Kuaei (sp.?--too lazy to look up) cuz it's one of the least touristy and supposed to be so beautiful and it blew me away--it was like an archetype of paradise

	4:27pm Jeff Moore: @olivia: You'll probably enjoy that podcast episode, but really I recommend the Dave Chang podcast in general. Those guys tend to be some mixture of hilarious, sloppy/charming and insightful – and even more engaging if you're an interested eater, a thread I believe exists in your household. Kathryn and I just finished eating some absolutely delicious BLTs assembled to Dave C's specs as laid out in an early episode of their "Recipe Club" – key insights include mayo which actually enhances the sandwich (Dave specifies Kewpie, I use home-made mayo concocted to include the sort of umami cheats Kewpie is known for while tasting better to me than Kewpie), the right kind of bread, a touch of the bacon grease inside that bread, good ol' iceberg lettuce... and of course the crowning touch right now is the magic of its being tomato season. What was I talking about? All I can think about now is that sandwich.

Though I'm black/white, when she talked about her mom representing a wholeness/completeness of her Korean identity that was gone, I really resonated with that! I will have to check out the Dave Chang podcast with her!!

	4:27pm Jeff Moore: @olivia: You'll probably enjoy that podcast episode, but really I recommend the Dave Chang podcast in general. Those guys tend to be some mixture of hilarious, sloppy/charming and insightful – and even more engaging if you're an interested eater, a thread I believe exists in your household. Kathryn and I just finished eating some absolutely delicious BLTs assembled to Dave C's specs as laid out in an early episode of their "Recipe Club" – key insights include mayo which actually enhances the sandwich (Dave specifies Kewpie, I use home-made mayo concocted to include the sort of umami cheats Kewpie is known for while tasting better to me than Kewpie), the right kind of bread, a touch of the bacon grease inside that bread, good ol' iceberg lettuce... and of course the crowning touch right now is the magic of its being tomato season. What was I talking about? All I can think about now is that sandwich.
