Yeti Bob! We had a really, really wonderful few days. First time in memory we felt like we could relax and that the forces of fate and world weren't all arrayed against us. Really good time, even though it was all spent stuck indoors while 8" of rain came down. Also, we brought the jam with us, and it was a total hit! That jar disappeared in a hurry!

Rache, we listened to Monster for the first time in a while on the drive to MI and back recently. There are a lot of great songs on it! I feel sometimes like it doesn't quite cohere as an album, but I like so many of the songs.

i saw someone trying to argue, in all serious-Ness, that Steel Wheels was the '2nd best studio album' the Stones ever made. He said that several big critics agreed with him... like it was a commonly held opinion. I think Robert Cristgau was one of the names he dropped. sort of blew my mind that anyone could think that. what in the hell is the reason?

Handy, I'm a "Murmur" guy and love "Fables of the Reconstruction" too. I even like "Up." I recall that summer of '83, my friends and I were all floored by "Murmur" (a musical curve ball at the time).

Sorry Jim, one of the seven dirty words floated over the airwaves. Last line is "I never understood, don't fuck with me, u-huh". Was just telling my daughter my daughter how much I miss Sportsy Talk. And here's the opening track to Game Theory's idiosyncratic masterwork 1987's Lolita Nation, actually recreating the incident with creepy footsteps, 7 years before R.E.M. youtu.be...

B minus sounds about right. Bob Cristgau's a thrower of brick-bats. Likes to elicit some kind of response from readers, to see if they even have a pulse. He may have been the Dean, or may still be, but he's always known the whole thing is a hamburger university. I suspect all he ever hoped for was for the reader to stop reading, and to really listen and to genuinely care.

McGroovey, that has been the case since the "transmitter" troubles a few weeks ago. The stream on the computer and the radio on the bathroom boombox are more out of sync than ever, with the stream more solidly ahead of the radio than the radio *used to* be ahead of the stream.
