Missed your show last week, Pseu because I had to get my swollen right eyelid checked out. Seems that a stye was blocking the tear duct and the fluid was backing up around my eyeball. The doctor had to gently squish my eyeball to dislodge the blockage. Getting it checked out in a follow up today.

Hope your arm is okay. Nerve impingement? :(

Argh, Pseu! Hope the PT happens soon. Nerve impingement from my cervical spinal disc compression sometimes makes me lose feeling briefly in my arm. Used to get tingling electrical pain too. Had electro-myelography done which was like torture, but never really found the source of the pain. PT showed me how to deal with the issue. Used to happen in my legs too from lumbar spine problems. I feel like Mr. Loopner from SNL.

So much of life is negligible, the bad and the good probably happen in equal measure. But with that kind of mind it would be hard not to pile the negligible with the bad, remembering it all together, making the good seem like a much more rare thing than it actually is

Not that WFMU has access to a vaccine cleaner, BUT that is my GO TO way of disposing of flying bugs.
This is especially good if it has one of those tubes with a wand on it.
Some clean dust buster-esque mini vac will also work.

Good afternoon! We could solve the nuisance fly problem if we treated them like nuisance fish and had celebrity chefs come up with delicious recipes for consuming them.

In my world, fruit flies are now known as drain flies. Clean out drain gunk, kill flies. Also fun to put up strips of scotch tape, like fly paper. It doesn't bring the population down, but at least you can mock the fly dead.

What is the difference between cauliflower and snot?

Andres:

Well, I do prefer roasted cauliflower.

At work, we had an infestation of what they thought were fruit flies. Turns out they were something almost identical called fungus gnats that often frequent /breed in the moist top layer of soil/mulch of house plants.I was the guilty party having a whole room full of plants and was ground zero of the buildings’ fly problem. If you ever have that problem, a simple solution is just to put an inch layer of play sand as the top layer in your plant pots. That’ll fix em.

I’m very fortunate to have not just one but *two* cats who chase flies! I don’t think they usually catch them, but wow, these are some of the least lazy cats I’ve ever met, and seeing them suddenly leap into the air and swat things randomly is a riot.

Clearly this means the WFMU studio needs its own fly-chasing cat. One who puts up with dogs, obv. And maybe it’d have to be one of those freaky-looking hypoallergenic cats.

Do y'all have gnats? I get them from houseplants. What works for me is: <Lure and kill gnats with a mixture of apple cider vinegar, water, and dish soap.> I use Dawn. Put in a bottle cap or a jar lid.

Ultimately all this topical pain stuff seems to come down to the same few active ingredients, basically the same stuff as in Ben Gay and Icy Hot (camphor, menthol, etc.) and/or capsaicin (spicy stuff to make you tingle so much you don’t notice the pain)
