Hi Rich! Thank you for making today’s show possible!

Hi ironybread and puzzlers!

Hi Taylor!
I just flicked that little chromium switch!

I'm cooking up potatoes o'brien in honor of this special Boise show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm
chresti:

Idaho, I think we stopped there so my mom and brother could pick up some rocks on one of the family trips to CA from ILL.
  2:00pm
ironybread:

Add some hops, Rich! If there were a United Nations security council for microbrew nations Idaho would sure as hell be chairing that committee now
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm
Franco Twinkie:

Howdy hey!
  2:01pm
ironybread:

Dragging the show to 1991 for a couple of songs! Ah, good old 1991, when college radio was suddenly a thing that The Money cared about.
  2:02pm
ironybread:

I bought this Sleestacks cassette from the band at their gig in Moscow, Idaho, where they played a number of excellent Celtic vomiting tunes
  2:02pm
ironybread:

Hiya Franco!

Franco Twinkie:

That's right irony. What a whirlwind '91 was.

Ed approves.

That's when I went to "art" school, '91.

Good morning, of course I screwed up and left a message for October 2nd.

Board-Op Rich in Washington:

Hi Buddy!
I was listening to the 24/7 stream while sleeping and the 'Certain Men' episode played and I had really weird dreams to it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm
Board-Op Rich in Washington:

24/7 Over the Edge stream, I mean.
  2:10pm
ironybread:

Drat, the image isn’t working. I’ll have to fix that later. Here it is https://www.discogs.com/Providence-Ever-Sense-The-Dawn/master/547811#images/22127493
Avatar 2:11pm
Buddy Runyan:

Are you playing the show off your iPad?
  2:12pm
ironybread:

Rich is broadcasting for me. I’m just doing comments and playlist updates here on my iPad
Avatar 2:12pm
Buddy Runyan:

It’s perfect just like you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm
Board-Op Rich in Washington:

I'm board op'ing but not bored. This is wonderful!
  2:13pm
ironybread:

Aw
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm
Board-Op Rich in Washington:

I see the image in the playlist. Is something not displaying for you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm
Board-Op Rich in Washington:

Wow! Caustic Resin! There's a name I haven't heard in forever!
  2:15pm
ironybread:

Indeed, Rich, I see no album cover image for the Providence record. If everybody else can see it, fantastic
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Hello everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm
chresti:

Hi Jan!
  2:16pm
ironybread:

In Idaho in college in the first half of the ‘90s the local action was all about Caustic Resin, Treepeople, Black Happy, and SadHappy. I went back and revisited Black Happy and Sadhappy and it’s not doing anything for me
  2:17pm
ironybread:

Hi Jan!
Avatar 2:17pm
Buddy Runyan:

Can see the images including Providence.
  2:18pm
ironybread:

I saw Built to Spill two nights ago on the Treefort Main Stage, and Doug & company made me very happy. They’re back down to a three-piece just like the old days
  2:18pm
ironybread:

Thanks Buddy, good to know, I guess my iPad is just being difficult
Avatar 2:19pm
Buddy Runyan:

😮😀
  2:20pm
ironybread:

Hillfolk Noir may be my favorite thing about the Boise music scene right now. Their CD “Songs for Elk” is strongly recommended
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm
Jan Turkenburg:

What would Camille Saint Saens have thought of this take on his theme? Probably would have like it better than the 'original' version of If I had words..
  2:27pm
ironybread:

Here’s Dan Costello, who was three years behind me at Borah High School. Proud to call him a pal
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm
Jan Turkenburg:

This is way better than Yvonne Keely and what's his name's version.
  2:30pm
ironybread:

Huma says she’s working to channel Finster on this album, very outsider-y
  2:41pm
ironybread:

And here’s an old musical project from Jonah Shue, one year ahead of me at Borah High School. We were in the jazz choir band which by tradition is called The Squids. Can’t remember why it’s called that, sorry
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm
Jan Turkenburg:

This is super!
  2:44pm
ironybread:

Here’s Grant Olsen, whom I saw late Wednesday morning / Thursday morning. Please check out his show “It’s Now Right Now”, 3 hours every Wednesday night on Radio Boise
  2:47pm
ironybread:

And here’s the Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio who I saw right BEFORE Grant Olsen, in an upstairs bar called the Olympic, right around the corner from Neurolux where Grant played. I asked Delvon’s label on Twitter to please please send WFMU some of their CDs and they said sure!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm
Ike:

Yams!!!
  2:52pm
ironybread:

This is Mdou Moctar from Niger. They played the El Korah Shrine two nights ago and I’m certain this is the greatest gig I’ve ever attended. Bass response from the P.A. Was so intense I thought I’d be sick. Energy was through the roof (you’ll hear why in a moment). Mosh pit, crowd surfing, the works. Just about the best goddamn thing ever
  2:52pm
ironybread:

Hi Ike! Rooted vegetables FTW!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm
chresti:

Sounds like you had a blast in potato land!
  2:55pm
ironybread:

Indeed, chresti. Also saw Calexico for the first time last night, they did 90 minutes on the Main Stage, it was wonderful. More bands tonight and Sunday!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm
chresti:

Calexico is great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm
Board-Op Rich in Washington:

Great show, ironybread!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Yes, I enjoyed this hour, Taylor!
Avatar 2:59pm
Buddy Runyan:

Fun show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm
chresti:

Thanks ironybread!
  2:59pm
ironybread:

Thanks for listening everybody! And thank you Rich for helpfully hijacking the stream and inserting my show into it today!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:00pm
Franco Twinkie:

Thank you Taylor. Pure awesomeness.
