Hope you've had your sleep this week @TomDash
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:04am Handy Haversack:

I picture Chloe with singles in her mouth, racing from turntable to turntable as the show gets more and more frenetic, she and TomDash racing around like Mr. Burns and Smithers when they run the plant all alone. Good dog, Chloe!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:05am Ken From Hyde Park:

Good morning, Tom and crazy-heads. Steady there, Chloe!

Coffee, ablutions, then house cleaning with dot dash radio.
  9:10am Listener Robert:

I'd usually be on the Drummer Stream, but Doug Schulkind just happens to be doing a special today in one of the few music genres that bore me the most: rocksteady. I'd rather go nuts!
Avatar 🎸 9:10am winston legthigh:

these 3 minute diddies really got me cranked up
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:11am Handy Haversack:

Bagpipe seems to find them soothing and relaxing. He's curled against my leg. I have pointed out that Chloe is actually helping, but nothing doing!
  9:12am Listener Robert:

I wondered if I'd ever hear this one again! Last remembered hearing it on WFMU about 40 years ago.
  9:14am Listener Robert:

That might've been FXO's show or Pat Duncan's.
Swag For Life Member 9:15am ELGUAPO:

Mornin' Sir. Nice to hear you're getting some use outta that art Attacks record!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16am Jack McGuire:

Delta 5 were an absolute joy to me in High School. Was astounded/enraged by the Apple ad. Now just hope it provided some assistance and comfort to Ms. Sale, however delayed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16am jmr3:

I think I taped I Am a Dalek off the radio 40 years ago on a Miami public radio show called Radio Free Living Room.
Used to tape it every week on three or four cassettes, listen for a few weeks and tape over them in rotation
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:17am TomDash:

hey there ELGUAPO - always...and thanks for the copy!!!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:17am Handy Haversack:

@Jack McGuire, from articles that circulated when she died, the consensus seemed to be that the band got paid.
  9:19am Listener Robert:

Funny, jmr3, because I remember making a compilation cassette off WFMU to have some friends listen to it, and "I Am A Dalek" was one of the pieces I remember being on it. I wonder if I still have that in the garage.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:19am luka:

seems 9 times out of 10 when i ask myself “what is this delightful noise?” it’s a Wire song

@Handy I would certainly hope so!

Good Fri.A.M. - sounding marvelous.
Avatar 9:36am Nodong Il:

Anyone have any more info about Dee Pop? I lost track of him when I dropped off facebook a few years ago. I'm sorry to hear this sad news. He had more than a little bad news himself these last few years. He used to love the Flammin' Groovies. I think he had a tattoo from that "groovie's greatest grooves" album.
  9:36am LDO:

Dang this who show is making my morning right now.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50am TomDash:

Thanks Rev Rabbit - I started with the Chloe pic over the summer with old show..she's the best, 12yrs old and a variety of health issues (most recently chemo for cancer since March) - but she is such a trooper!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50am Candy-O'67:

That's awesome, Rev Rabbit, Cyril's graphic :)

this show get better every week. chloe is a lovely name. brave and strong. i felt naming my children was an honor and squirreled money away so they could change it if they didn’t like it. 20 years and no changes! sending good vibes.

Addressing Coalescence

The self is illusory, infinite and (thus obviously) never wholly defined . . In effect, any negation in definition of self functions as an addition.

My ignorance, I'm sure, but it sounded so much poppier than I think of GG Allin. Been a while since I listened to much of his stuff, though.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50am TomDash:

Paulie B! WAKE UP!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51am TomDash:

Handy - early GG (with the Jabbers) is about as good as any American punk band - very hooky, very poppy...then he takes a left turn by mid 80s!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52am dave wuz here:

i watched gg allin look for his car keys for about 30 seconds then pick up a cobblestone and smash out the window in his car. at least i think it was his car.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 10:53am Handy Haversack:

Thanks, TomDash! Yeah, I must have heard the later stuff. That track reminded me of the current Duncan Reid and the Big Heads, "like heard on efd"!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53am TomDash:

check out his stuff with the Jabbers...classic
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

G'g grew up in Littleton which is apparently aptly named - with a genuinely insane father who named him Jesus Christ &tc. - & Manchester is NH's biggest town - a suburb of Boston in the very broadest sense - so relocated & Jabbers based outta there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55am DJ Guin:

Fun Facts! Now Give Us Your Money!

1. His real name was Jesus Christ Allin. His brother started calling him ‘Je Je’, because he couldn’t pronounce ‘Jesus’. This then became GG.

2. Allin’s controversial stage act included such low key practises as coprophagia (the consumption of fecal matter) and self-mutilation.

3. His first band were called Little Sister’s Date, and covered songs by Kiss and Aerosmith.

4. His lyrics were renowned for being anything but politically correct. For proof, just read the words to Ass Fuckin’, Butt Suckin’, Cunt Lickin’ Masturbation or Die When You Die. Not really for the easily offended. But good to play if you wanna annoy your neighbours.

5. Allin introduced his famed ‘poop punk stage movement’ in 1985 at a show in Peoria, Illinois. When he literally – and deliberately – shat himself onstage, there was a near riot, as people tried to get away from the stench.

Saw the VU doc last week - the more time I have had to think about it, the more I like it.

I always associate sexbomb with the time I played it on the jukebox at Ralph's Chadwick Square Diner in Worcester, Mass, and everyone else left the room and the bartender turned it off after a few minutes.

LOL at that sound. I thought something was broken inside my laptop.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...tho I reckon an interview w/ Laurie Anderson about *anything* is worthwhile...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56am sphere:

thanks, Tom
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56am Candy-O'67:

Thanks, Tom! Enjoyed it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am Polyus:

There are a bunch of other pretty fascinating folks in it though. And it's refreshingly Thurston/Rollins/Grohl-free. I think Haynes assumes people viewing it already know how they feel about the band so instead he shows you a ton of footage you probably never saw before (Warhol archives etc) and colors the story with interviews from artists, siblings, even Sterling's widow.

Most excellent !
