Here's a great tool shows the peoples and languages indigenous to anyone's locality and also the treaties that were made concerning them: native-land.ca

Wow, almost missed it! Evening y'all. Is this the one week the show is at 12 (GMT+1) before the clocks go back to normal time?
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 8:06pm
Handy Haversack:

One more week after this, y_ddraig_las, I think. Our time change is 7 November.

Used to have this thing about Link Wray. Used to play him every Saturday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:07pm

Thanks Handy - awesome link. Ha.

Hey y'all - I obviously need a lot of help in the pledge department! If you have the means and interest, I'd be ever grateful!
Avatar 8:09pm
y_ddraig_las:

That's an amazingly detailed map Handy! I'm sad that the Celtic languages aren't on there, but I suppose it's because the Celts displaced the beaker people!
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 8:13pm
Handy Haversack:

I can's speak definitely, y_ddraig_las, but my guess is that it shows Indigenous people displaced from Age of Sail/colonization onward? Though of course the Celts were displaced from pretty early days!

Though also maybe it's just still in development? It's a N. American project so is likely spreading its base outward from this continent.

Man, we listened to lots of Marty Robbins in my childhood home. This is a time machine for me.

Or maybe because Europe would be very difficult to do any sort of justice to. We Welsh just like to reminding people that Welsh was spoken here long before English came along.

I'd never heard of Rainwater until I stumbled upon one of his singles titled Tea Bag Romeo, and this was around the time of the rise of the 'tea party' republicans, so naturally, I was intrigued.

@ultradamno, thanks for that link (sorry!) that you posted at the beginning of the show. Link Wray is just so good. I was lucky to catch him in Raleigh in '98 perhaps? How this guy's not in the RnR Hall perplexes me.

Sorry all, she pretended to understand bluegrass some time ago and got a pass in NJ. Who knows what Ken will allow next.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:50pm

Jimmy Carl Black did some cool stuff with Eugene Chadbourne shortly before shuffling off this mortal coil - also not quite radio safe.

Dave, if there's anything I would never pretend, it's to understand bluegrass. Thanks for your feedback.

I saw Link Wray in Tucson about 20 years back. He had a local rhythm section for the show and they only had about 30 minutes of material rehearsed. So they played it twice

You gotta get a crushed soda can under each heel to do the Robot Walk, per X-Ray.
Avatar 8:54pm

Because grass is blue. A lot of Pre-English languages (including Welsh) used a different colour spectrum, 'blue' used to include some dark greens. Nothing to do with the music mind!

I am chastened over here. Good night.

By the way, Redbone and this stone cold Number One Hit is ABSOLUTELY honky tonk. I will not be taking questions.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:57pm

I wouldn't question it. I think I saw this at the time. Big hit.
