	2:39pm Kaleigh: Thanks for asking the question! There's a coalition at some universities within jazz studies to include free or creative improvised music in the discourse, or to have musicians from that cannon invited as guest artists rather than just the "Stan Kentons"
	🥁 2:43pm WR: I knew many great musicians have been artist-in-residence and doing master classes and seminars but delighted to learn of programs based or significantly including improvisation.
	🥁 2:45pm fred: There was research at work around some improvising software (as in a computer improvising music live with a real musician). They got Steve Coleman to try it and he didn't storm out, so I guess it did "something". Not sure where that effort stands now (I'm just a tech guy there)

	🥁 3:22pm fred: A friend of mine was to play in a festival last year, biggest audience she ever played for. Lockdown hit in the afternoon, she ended up doing her set (live on a web radio) in front of the crew. Big letdown for everyone

(To maybe radically oversimplify things....)

Drummer/percussionist Marc Edwards and his band, Slipstream Time Travel, are known for their innovative approach to free jazz.

October 30, 2021: Kaleigh Wilder is an improviser and sound sculptor.
Speaking through the baritone saxophone, her music is born of her embodied experiences of joy, spirituality, childhood trauma, and being biracial—not white or black, but both. This duality can also be seen in her training. She is a trained classical musician but one who also studied jazz, free improvisation, and even went so far as West Africa to study Ghanaian music and dance.
