Evening Gaylord and listeners! Cut trick or treating short to make it!
6:29pm
Gerry from Miami:
This Double Six ensemble used to get quite a lot of attention from Down Beat magazine and other jazz publications back in the 60s. Lambert, Hendricks and Ross "en francais." Love that scat singing! Got any Swingle Singers records, Gaylord?
Be right back. We gotta check out the kids' Halloween parade in our neighborhood. If someone's dressed as Fool's Paradise, I'm going to be very confused.
Gaylord, were you living with us in Hoboken the Halloween some guy came to the door, with a half-baked "costume" that screamed Give Me Candy? When I asked him what he was dressed as, he shrugged, and replied "Goofball?" Definitely better than the year Georgia was egged before we even got off our block.
When I lived in jersey City the second time (91-96) the candy store downstairs, normally open till 9-10, closed at dusk. Owner Narbe was certain people wearing masks could only be trouble.

@phat in Lincoln. Your chili sounds delicious. Maybe you could send a freeze-dried portion down here to Miami?! YUM!
Gaylord, I think your show impersonating Ira the K is absolutely Brilliant!!! So original, I don't think anyone has ever attempted that. Ira surely will not be able to top this.
Such a great Beatles tune---the bridge and overall structure of the song is brilliant and so original. And, like all their early recordings, quite short. But oh so tasty!
Where I live now for the past 10 years, 0 trick-or-treaters. And where I used to live trick or treaters stop coming around starting sometime in the early 1990s. It was depressing because it was a sad decree on how bad society had gotten to the point where a fun innocent kids holiday like Halloween could never be the same again the way it used to be when life was more uncomplicated and joyful without all these new dangers and fears.
I've been living in Thailand for over 15 years and sometimes I accidentally hear local radio playing western pop. In all that time, this Fugu song is the only song played here that is actually good.
@phat in Lincoln. Yes, the Cascades did a terrific job on that huge hit tune. So did a group called the Essex with "Easier Said Than Done." Both of these combos formed while serving in the Navy and Marine Corps, respectively
