I'm sure he was singing something else, but it sounded all the world to me like he was singing "I love Gong" - and so do I

Coincidentally, I have been wondering if I should ask around the boards here about some music mentioned in a book I am reading :)

The novel is All the Naked Heroes by Alan Kapelner. I had never heard of him, but his wife, a contemporary dancer I discovered through a beautiful documentary talked about him with such love, I felt inspired to discover it.
I will gloss over my opinions on the style not to make this post even longer than it already is. Except to mention that the main character is tortured by the thought of WWII, and the eerie feeling I always get when reading about things described that are atemporal.

One of the passages mentioning songs: "He struck pure ragtime gold: Dixieland. Potato Head(..)bombed the room.."
oh and John Cage is mentioned at some point !

Norm Macdonald had a bit about when he performed at a facility for the criminally insane. He got on the stage and they all started yelling insults. And he started thinking “ I don’t know if these people even deserve a show! Some of them killed their whole families!” It’s better when he tells it 😀

Question: do inmates on death row have the option of assisted suicide, so they don’t languish there for decades?
