Hello all! Today's playlist pic is a painting by Japanese artist Harue Koga. It's called "Umi" (The Sea), and is from 1929.

Saw Crazy Backwards Alphabet back in, must have been 1987. They pulled a volunteer from the audience and prompted him tell a story while they improvised on top of it. Weirdly, the guy they pulled was a kid I knew from High School, very drunk and telling of a dream he had about a purple tiger.

I may have asked this the last time you did a basement show - what is the storage setup for all of the basement records?
Avatar 12:19pm
Tony Coulter:

I do have shelving down there, though at the moment a whole bunch of records are just on the floor. I'll be putting together another shelf for them over the weekend (hopefully).
  12:19pm
rw:

TC, is it cool if I have a seat on this stack of LPs?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:19pm
WR:

@12:11 @rw:
Fun story. I never saw Crazy Backwards Alphabet perform, need to search for vids online.
Avatar 12:21pm
Tony Coulter:

@rw: Why don't you sit on that box of VHS tapes instead.
  12:22pm
rw:

Ha! Thanks WR. Some memories seem to stick. Let me know if you find any good vids! Especially if they involve purple tigers.

Alright, TC. This stack looks comfy...
  12:24pm
rw:

I mean box
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm
Stanley:

Any tips as to what I could do with a few boxes of redundant VHS tapes? Apart from sitting on them?
Avatar 12:28pm
Tony Coulter:

Well, if they're straight-to-video horror movies, you could always sell 'em for a bunch of moolah.
  12:32pm
rw:

Stanley, I'd give 'em straight to the local thrift shop. But that's just me.

Who else was singing along with that Billy Mitchel track?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm
Stanley:

No just a bunch of mainly arty farty stuff.
rw: I don't think they're acepting them anymore.
Do I hang on to them in the hope there will be a revival in tapes? (I don't think that will happen, though)
Avatar 12:37pm
Tony Coulter:

@ RW: the background vocals are credited to "The Renegade Atlantis Choir"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm
chresti:

Sounds like a cult choir.
Avatar 12:39pm
Tony Coulter:

@ Stanley: Portland has a VHS fair, where people sell and swap VHS tapes. People definitely do collect them.
  12:39pm
rw:

Man, that's a dilemma. I DO like the arty farty stuff. Maybe start a VHS movie night and give them away as door prizes.

Tony, I meant who was singing along besides me?
Avatar 12:40pm
Tony Coulter:

Aha! Well, I was tapping my foot.
  12:41pm
