Eeek... Nowhere near Pangaea... That was 76. Yeah, this was right in the midst of the Bitches Brew recordings. Likely same band. Wayne Shorter on that sax... Dave Holland on bass. Sounds like Chick Corea on keys.

Saw Miles open for Laura Nyro at the Fillmore East. He only played one song. My favorite concert ever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm
Barney Grubbs:

Will & Handy, those non-stick ceramic pans look like they mostly use a coating of silica with some silicone-based binders that is baked into a hard ceramic coating. Probably much less innocuous than the fluorinated stuff (there's a Thermolon patent with a fair amount of info here, but it's pretty technical: patents.google.com...)
Avatar 3:42pm
johnec:

Damn middlebun, that's freaking awesome! About how long was the one song?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm

Barney: "less innocuous"?
  3:46pm

How long? I will never know. Then Laura held court alone, at a giant Steinway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm
Barney Grubbs:

Handy, ooops--"MORE innocuous"! trying to read patents always messes up my language centers
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm
Handy Haversack:

That makes total sense, Barney! And I'm glad to know it -- thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm
Barney Grubbs:

Will, we mostly use cast iron or stainless, but it's nice to have a little non-stick one around for eggs and crepes and stuff like that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm
Meefyt:

a solid oil patina baked onto cast iron won't attract the bugs!

Barney Grubbs:

Ultradamno, that's a goofy press release for a reasonably straight-forward article. I suspect they used salmon sperm dna because it apparently is widely used as a reagent for DNA hybridization work, so it's relatively cheap and readily available. Presumably it could work just as well with any other DNA doi.org...

I remember from the Miles documentary from a year or two ago when it got to this point in his career, it was pretty funny. The gist of it was that Miles got pissed seeing all these hippies making rock music and getting all the money when he considered himself much more talented. That was kind of the impetus for the electric Miles stuff from late 60's on. . . at least according to the documentary. Pretty funny
