Jim! Showers and growers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:01pm Threemoons:

Heyo!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:01pm dale:

hey now. nice surprise.
  6:01pm Jackie G:

Love this Basinksi shite.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:02pm tim from washington:

Hi Jim the Poet!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04pm Jim the Poet:

Oh hey guys
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04pm tim from washington:

My tin foil hat is picking up suspicious vibrations that something weird is happening to the tin foil hat DJs during the tin foil hat time slot, Mark Hurst was out yesterday. Micah is out today. Something fishy is going on here.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04pm Threemoons:

Loving this...
  6:05pm Kat in Chicago:

I forgot you were subbing tonight and I was like “jeez, this cult music sounds like Disintegration Loops”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:05pm Threemoons 🌛🌕🌜:

Not gonna lie; loving the fill in shows.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:05pm ultradamno:

@tim I'm assuming some kind of secret society convention
Avatar 6:05pm Ivan from Woodbridge:

Jim the Poet is the hardest working man in show business
  6:05pm Morgan:

hey jim the poet
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm chresti:

Hi
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm Jim the Poet:

WFMU is the cult
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07pm Will the Sound Guy:

hi Jim and all!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08pm dale:

this could go on all night and i'd have no complaint.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm Jim the Poet:

I do have it on repeat at the moment
  6:10pm ron-ji:

So nice to listen to something you like on MMC and not have to find out all the horrible things the musicians and their followers have done.
  6:12pm ron-ji:

I mean, not that there’s anything wrong with — no, that’s not right either.
  6:13pm P-90:

Ah-ha… It’s a McShowface night it seems. Excellent.
  6:13pm Jackie G:

Play this for a half hour, talk a little bit, then finish with another long piece of music. Easy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13pm ultradamno:

Well, he is abusing these tapes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13pm tim from washington:

@ron-ji - so how do you think these loops got so disintegrated? Basinkski did it by enslaving new age hippies and bilking their grandmas out of millions!
  6:16pm ron-ji:

Dang it, Tim!
  6:18pm NikiA:

this is so good I can't turn it off even though I want to watch Ted Lasso
  6:18pm ron-ji:

Best single-song set on FMU since the “Murder Most Foul” + monkey sounds marathon.
  6:19pm ron-ji:

Just make this the soundtrack to Ted Lasso. You could be on to the next generation’s Dark Side /Wizard of Oz synch up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19pm Jim the Poet:

I could play the Ted Lasso themesong after this is done
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm joe mulligan:

love these Disintegration Loops Jim the Poet. I was bummed I missed out on tickets in NYC for the 20th anniversary performance on 9/11/21 but less bummed when I found out it was being done by a symphony and William Basinski couldn't make it to the event.
  6:20pm ron-ji:

“Disintegrated Lasso”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm tim from washington:

The Dylan/Chimp duet really improved my appreciation of Murder Most Foul. I didn't appreciate it at all until the chimp showed up.
  6:22pm ron-ji:

There are a few symphonies I wouldn’t mind seeing disintegrated. And a few that nearly disintegrated me.
  6:23pm NikiA:

that would be awesome Jim
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm dale:

this can play at my funeral. but i'm gonna be cremated. so just pretend.
Avatar 6:24pm SheWolf:

Oh my heart - The Loops
  6:26pm NikiA:

@ron-ji that is exactly what I'm doing 😂
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm joe mulligan:

good choice @dale! altho stay with us
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:28pm joe mulligan:

good news @Jim is that there are a whole set of these LPs so I think you could do like a 6-hour show of DL.
  6:29pm Marie:

JIM! I think if you played "Devil went down to Georgia" after this, that would be the best sequence ever
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm JB from NP:

This is incredible
  6:29pm ron-ji:

What’s especially delightful about this is that it really IS Music of Mind Control. I think it’s often hard to get the brainwashing effect of much of the cult music Micah-ji has taught us to worship in five or ten minute samples.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm Jim the Poet:

I was going to play Howlin' Wolf but I am wavering
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm joe mulligan:

you could also say this is perfect music for mind control. kind of culty, def religious (of a special sort)
  6:30pm GeoEnvi:

Honestly, this gives ambient music all the deserving ridicule it sometimes deserves.
  6:30pm ron-ji:

Especially the drone-y stuff. If you just THINK about it you don’t really get the full experience.
  6:30pm Morgan:

this sounds like slow breathing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm dale:

thanks joe - just wanna be hear to get some social security and maybe that sweet part b and c plan that jimmy 'j.j.' walker stumps for.
  6:31pm ron-ji:

Stay the course, Jim the Poet! We are moving from fascination to boredom all the way back to fascination.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm dale:

i'm not bored. a wee bit sad as that final minor chord lays down....
Avatar 6:33pm Buddha of Suburbia:

this is ethereal! lovely!
Avatar 6:33pm Buddha of Suburbia:

Dale, the musicologist
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm Jim the Poet:

Hey Buddha
  6:33pm ron-ji:

You have us, the faithful, right where Father Micah has been steering us all these years. Just pass out the running shoes and flavored drinks and let’s hop on that comet together.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm dale:

hey boodletown pipers.
  6:34pm Old Dave:

dale- don't die just yet. Some of us will really miss you.
  6:34pm listener Paul:

Was that something different?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm Jim the Poet:

Please nobody die during my fill-in. There's a lot of paperwork involved.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm dale:

old dave - thanks man! that put a tear in my eye.
  6:35pm ron-ji:

Oh, you’re going with us, J the P. Aren’t you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm Jim the Poet:

ROAD TRIP!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm dale:

ha ha! the fcc could care less as long as the check for the license clears.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm tim from washington:

Wait a minute! Is Jim the Poet actually Micah's heavy? His henchman? His big, ugly, smelly, strong arm who is entrapping us in Micah's cult? Is that the plan?
  6:37pm ron-ji:

I’m just surprised Father Micah-ji is mysteriously missing today’s service. He was so looking forward to the Cosmic Road Trip.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm PaulRobeson1920:

Hi Hi Hi ya’ll
Come on baby take a chance with the WFMU bus
  6:38pm Jackie G:

Wow. Longer than a half hour. Good!
  6:38pm ary Wing:

Hello Jim The Poet and freeform friends! I am testing a laptop that was glitching and freezing up recently, so I've had a 24-hour youtube video of rain falling playing on it (and it hasn't frozen yet, yay) and the rain is a nice compliment to the loops. If anyone's bored by this (but how, I ask?), I suggest adding rain sounds to it. :-)
  6:38pm ron-ji:

I think we’ve all seen enough WILD, WILD COUNTRY and Columbo reruns to suspect SOMETHING is up.
  6:38pm Mary Wing:

Actually, my name is Mary Wing, heh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:39pm dale:

this can go out to the three dead in another school shooting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40pm ultradamno:

And then maybe some campfire sounds so that by 7 we can say "I've heard fire and I've heard rain.."
Avatar 6:41pm Buddha of Suburbia:

Hi Jim the Poet Hi Nutri-Dallet!
  6:41pm ron-ji:

Since I first raised the B-word, I feel I should note I was merely alluding to the zen (or something) koan (or whatever) about passing from boredom to fascination, a concept which clearly inspired John Cage, Pope of the Cult of Weird Music.
  6:41pm Marie:

I'm enjoying this and that pic adds to it--end of year, short day, long night progression... inevitable march towards death...
  6:42pm Marie:

death and disintegration @)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm dale:

jim wins the station this week!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm joe mulligan:

@GeoEnvi: there's a story that makes the music. check it out if you have a moment. The release was timed with the events on 9/11
www.npr.org...
  6:44pm ron-ji:

For me it’s not boredom at all, more a case of “forgetting” about it for a while (like many of you I have other stuff playing too) and then “remembering” it’s still there. Which really is the process of meditation, after all.
  6:44pm Toothgrinder Tom:

What’s the matter, Jim, run out of chords?
  6:45pm randy Grouse:

is this skipping or is it me
  6:45pm Old Dave:

dale- I can't be trusted on a motorcycle in my own estimation. Blame car idiots racing the NJ Turnpike daily in broad daylight and elsewhere... just rather not be splattered for no reason by fools.
You still ride?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:45pm chresti:

So if one of us dies during your show, do you have to fill out a lot of paperwork?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:45pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, Jim and mind poets.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm joe mulligan:

@ron-ji, that's it.
  6:46pm ron-ji:

Anyone know when the monkey comes in? (I think that’s when we’re supposed to drink the flavored beverage).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm Jim the Poet:

This monkey's gone to heaven
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm tim from washington:

@chresti - the smart thing for Kim to do is fudge the time of death to 7:01 EST then the next DJ is responsible for the paper work.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm dale:

on halle bopp.
  6:47pm queems:

this is still going, huh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm tim from washington:

by Kim I mean Jim as in The Poet.
  6:48pm queems:

i just watched wild wild country over the weekend
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm Jim the Poet:

I am under its control. There is no Jim the Poet. There is only Zuul.
  6:48pm ron-ji:

As it turns out, I almost never get this meditative quality from compositions/concerts that are specifically billed as drones, trance music, or whatever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm chresti:

Kim as in not a poet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm JB from NP:

The playlist is still up to date
  6:49pm Jackie G:

Whatever the halle bopp is going on here, I like it. Make it the entire show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm Jim the Poet:

That can be arranged
  6:49pm queems:

  6:49pm ron-ji:

Queens: You’ve seen the movie, now visit the adventure park.
Avatar 6:49pm Buddha of Suburbia:

hi Queems! Good chatting with ya yesterday. I wrote you today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm joe mulligan:

it's not cult music or music for mind control unless you're deprived of food/water/communication with others and have been beaten to submission.
  6:50pm ron-ji:

Sorry about the n, @Q. Damned autocorrect.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm Jim the Poet:

I could cue up that Joey Ramone 1-6 thing
  6:50pm ron-ji:

But I hear they’re turning Queens into a theme park, too.
Avatar 6:50pm Buddha of Suburbia:

I think Jim the Poet wants us to become enlightened. I dig this loop. Then when I read Wikipedia it gets all the more intense...
  6:51pm Violet:

I really couldn't love this music more.
Going to add it to my Sunday morning hangover playlist.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:52pm dale:

DON'T STOP.
  6:52pm ron-ji:

@Joe M, I AM waiting for my husband to bring home dinner and share a cocktail, so technically I am being deprived of food and water.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:52pm queems:

@buddha likewise! i saw you messaged, i hadn't gotten a chance to respond due to work

  6:53pm Jackie G:

It's over? No, it isn't. Phew.
Avatar 6:53pm Buddha of Suburbia:

No worries, Queems. Please think about what I said. I would LOVE to see you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm tim from washington:

Wow, thanks Jim. This has been for real great!
