I have a hard time believing Nesmith's contributions to music would have gotten any traction without Monkees exposure (instead of visa-versa claims to the contrary)

Sad and shocked to hear the news. And to think I'd been asking about the man not too long ago on Becky's show (she'd just caught The Monkees final performance in LA), and recently was looking up cover versions of one of his songs on Second Hand Songs ("You Just May Be The One").
RIP Mr. Nesmith. You were such an extraordinary talent.

LOL @ DJ Guin that sounds awesome!!! xDD
Same typa thing happened to my dad... My dad's band auditioned to be the front band for The Who, and Keith Moon was there... Halfway through their set he threw a chair and said, "Why the f%$k would I want to hear someone who sounds EXACTLY LIKE US!?!?!?"
...and it was only cause they were playing for Keith Moon that they did that, cause they DID HAVE their own sound, but they figured he would like them if they played like The Who... innocent miscalculation 😂😂😂

At the age of 8, I sent out for one of those offers from the Columbia Record And Tape Club where you only send in a penny for 12 albums of your choice. This was the early 70's, when 8-tracks were still in use, and we had a stereo system with an 8-track player at home. My choices were primo:
Alice Cooper - School's Out
2 Atomic Rooster albums
1 Blue Cheer album (the one with their cover of "Summertime Bues")
Bread - Guitar Man (I regret getting that one in retrospect)
John Entwhistle - Bang Your Head Against The Wall
2 Spirit Albums
1 Steppenwolf Album
The Who - Live At Leeds
2 Wishbone Ash albums
Btw, That Benny Trokan track gave me some heavy Kurt Cobain vibes.

There were a few of them I never got to hear, sadly, like the Wishbone Ash and John Entwhistle albums. It now just occured to me that I actually got a lot more than 12 albums in the deal. And now that you mention him, I remember getting Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" and "Don't Shoot Me, I'm Only The Piano Player".
Thanks a lot, Mike! Great Show!
