I love sentence names too! I had a student once named Lisa Gentles, which I thought was awesome.

Becky:

This Sons of the Pioneers gospel number kinda smokes, no?
Avatar 8:14pm
Cat Stacker:

One time I sold a Sons of the Pioneers CD to an old lady and she was going to give it to her grandson . . . she brought it back (and returned it) because it had "Cowboy's Sweetheart" as the last track and she didn't want to encourage premarital sex by giving him something with that kinda content on it
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:15pm
PigeonsAndRust:

wow, Cat, that's something else. Did she find anything pure enough to replace it with?
Avatar 8:16pm
Cat Stacker:

Nope, we had nothing pure enough to replace it . . . we were out of the Carter Family I guess . . . returned to cash and it was "a hall of famer" printed out the reason for return for laughs and kept in the back room
Avatar 8:17pm
Cat Stacker:

#1 hall of fame return was the lady who got a lawyer to send us a nastygram to replace the Pootie Tang Soundtrack? It had a manufacturer's defect and had ruined her car stereo, which we also replaced
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:18pm
Handy Haversack:

That's why a lot of stores put in "Pre-" and "Post-" sections. Keep it all clear for the norms.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:19pm
PigeonsAndRust:

I can't touch your stories, Cat, but I worked in a junk store all through high school and a lady would always come in and ask for Nelson Eddy records. We finally found one and asked $5 for it. This highway robbery infuriated her so much that she gouged a couple of pieces of furniture with her keys on the way out. At least she never came back
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:19pm
ultradamno:

How could Pootie Tang wreck a car stereo?

Pootie, dang!
Avatar 8:21pm
Cat Stacker:

You got me, but the district manager ponied up the dough to fix the Pootie'd up stereo!
Avatar 8:21pm
Cat Stacker:

hahaha lol whoa Nelson Eddy fans are seriously nuts apparently!!
Avatar 8:22pm
Cat Stacker:

There was this woman OBSESSED with Mr. Bean and she would come in and order every single Mr. Bean DVD from Valley, then not buy them, again and again. Pretty sure we had the best Mr. Bean section this side of the Pond!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:23pm
PigeonsAndRust:

that made me laugh out loud!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:23pm
Becky:

hahahahaha
Avatar 8:24pm
Cat Stacker:

I used to be like "NOT AGAIN" but now on hard days . . . I miss talkin' Bean with that lady. She would just describe Bean scenes to you for hours. Like ". . . and Mr. Bean doesn't know how to eat the lobster, so he just bites the shell . . . "
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:25pm
PigeonsAndRust:

a gentle kind of monomania
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:26pm
PigeonsAndRust:

That Glen Campbell was a new one on me, Becky. I'm going to find a copy now to give to my friend Paul, who collects records, to give to his long-suffering wife Brenda for Christmas
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:27pm
Becky:

I love that one!
Avatar 8:28pm
Cat Stacker:

Many years later I was at a flea market. . . I bought a set of vintage heavy glass pint mugs from a lady who was like, in aspect and habit, so, so, so similar to the Bean Lady. It was uncanny. But she seemed normal. When I packed up the mugs, she muttered over and over . . . "She must really like root beer floats . . . yep must really like milkshakes . . ." and smiling in sort of a special way. . . and I *SO* wanted to be like ". . . .you don't happen to be into Mr. Bean do you?"

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:35pm
Handy Haversack:

That was a good set for playing with the kittens -- hoping I've exhausted them just a little!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:35pm
PigeonsAndRust:

Oh, Cat, flea market people are what I miss most about not doing that kind of work regularly. From the devil family that had horn implants, to strange requests like "Do you have any triangular glass door knobs?" and the occasional celebrity (I sold Sally Struthers an old toaster once, and a bankers lamp to one of the guys in Neutral Milk Hotel).

I felt right at home when I did a flea back in October and set up next to a lady who was selling glow-in-the-dark ashtrays she molded in the exact shape of her own vagina.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:38pm
Becky:

Hey y'all - deciding on my marathon premium for the year. What would you think about a collection of creepy-crawly-minory-rockabilly-hillbilly-type stuff?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:39pm
Handy Haversack:

Exactitude counts, PAR!

Becky, "minory" like minors? Miners? Minorities? Minatories? Minotaurs?

Honestly, I'm in no matter how you answer.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:39pm
ultradamno:

I like all those words so I can't see how it could miss
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:40pm
PigeonsAndRust:

Becky, you have great taste. If you think it's going to be a good premium then I'm sure it will be!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:40pm
Becky:

Minor keys! If I had 20 records about minotaurs, I would totally do that, though.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:41pm
ultradamno:

Though I still think an all bed music instrumental disc needs to happen
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:41pm
loveless:

Youse guys are cracking me up tonight! Thanks for the laughs.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:41pm
PigeonsAndRust:

Are there any rockabilly disaster songs, like in the vein that Vernon Dalhart had a record for every dang calamity?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:41pm
Handy Haversack:

My truck, my labyrinth, my minotaur, America! I'm so in!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:43pm
Becky:

There are DEFINITELY rockabilly songs about car crashes, but not sure about any collapsing bridges or drowned schoolchildren or anything.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:44pm
Handy Haversack:

Mining disasters never went -billy?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:44pm
Becky:

Rockabilly records are pretty narcissistic, come to think of it.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:45pm
ultradamno:

No rockabilly answer to Timothy? Sad.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:47pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, Becky and honk-ee tonks!

So good.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:49pm

Maybe from Timothy's point of view "guys, STOP IT!"
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:50pm
PigeonsAndRust:

Well, Ultradamno, you have a job to do now
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:52pm
Handy Haversack:

Gonna listen to the last few minutes while I do the dishes.

Thanks, Becky! Great show tonight!

Later on, Tonkans. Looking forward to the Old Artificers' "Timothy and the Minotaurs" next week if not before!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:57pm
