Bubblegum OD is Rock’n’Soul’s radio show devoted to cartoon rock, pop pablum, and sundry other candy-coated musical guilty pleasures. Many of these songs were penned by the Brill Building's best and brightest and contain provocative double-entendre lyrics. Sometimes a Mars bar isn’t just a Mars bar...

Needless to say, Becky, that it's been a somber weekend, but you must consider yourself very lucky to have seen The Monkees perform their final show ever before Mike left this Good Earth. Let's make tonight's show a great tribute in his honor.

  7:23pm

Izzy, that was some time for Troubadour revivals with not only the First National Band, but Richie Furay did an "early Poco" show ... playing the entire Deliverin' LP with Tim coming on stage to sing "Hear That Music"... Troubadour '68-'70 big time. I said Hi to Randy Meisner, who was in the house

I've got a great rejection letter from A&M. It goes something like "we recently found your tape in a shoebox. It most likely isn't representative of your current sound so we didn't listen to it. Feel free to re-submit"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41pm
Becky Ebenkamp:

Yes! It’s called Mr. A & Mr. M. That title told me the filmmakers “got it.” It’s been my dream to make a movie about Herb & Jerry and the significance of their label. The doc seemed to get that, but seemed more interested in laundry listing bands like Supertramp.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm
izzy:

Supertramp or the Police would NOT be my first thoughts for A & M!
  7:43pm
Domenico:

There are two Documentaries on Herb/A&M, but not a one on the A&M "Sound" of the '60s. I'm trying to market a music documentary now and it is REALLY HARD getting past finance people who try to turn everything into "Captain Obvious" instead of what things really were.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm
izzy:

I listen to more TJB or Carpenters than those two!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm
Becky Ebenkamp:

“Give a Little Bit” was the opening song. Hell no.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm
Becky Ebenkamp:

IMO, the first ep should have been ‘60s only. No Merry Go Round or B&H!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm
Becky Ebenkamp:

Is a Dutchie a joint?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm
izzy:

Well, the Brian Wison one was mostly talking heads like Taylor Hawkins (?) and Nick Jonas (??) telling me why I should like Brian.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46pm
Glynis GirlGroupGirl:

Its a cooking pot: dutch oven
  7:46pm
Domenico:

Chris Montez' "Call Me"... Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66... The Sandpipers, The TJ Brass... and others... there is a real sound and feel, which may be best exemplified by Burt Bacharach also using the A&M sound in his pre-A&M work. But Rock Idiot Execs would go "what?"
Avatar 7:47pm
Eric R:

I'll take anybody talking about any group/artist if it's not Whoopi Goldberg or Billy Crystal.

Izzy I think "Brian" paid for this to try and capture another era of listeners, since the Don Was era people are already on board. Today is a more airhead time than the '90s so they probably made a more airhead doc
