This is where all of culture and all of time are collapsed into one seductive portal and viewed through the panoramic lens of the exotic. Come and embark on an armchair-travel virtual-voyage to the heart of timeless darkness and beyond; embrace the numinous monolith of the exotic immensity. Let us find that place where hybridization meets its destiny as pure fantasy. Let us become observers observing those others who are ourselves. You wear your mask and I'll wear mine.

Just downloaded the Spike Jones and City Slickers laughing record entry. Kick up the Christmas gathering.
Nice organ licks in Umbawa. Someone asked me if I liked the organ the other night, and I tried to explain how -- in band performance and recordings, as opposed to classical or church blastings, which I can take only in modest doses -- in the right tracks played by the right hands it's so freakin' good and happy and right and important to brain appreciation-wiring.

I don't remember the Rice Honeys mentioned on the site.. I'd thought the prize might've come out of Rice Krinkles...with its most unfortunate branding angle and caricature art.

I will never cast shade on The Monkees, but it had been underscored this week how Nezz had bigger fish to fry all along.

Will reiterate here that the Nesmith obit on NPR said about the Monkees start, "Nesmith was the only one of his bandmates who had prior recording experience."
Wrong-o.

Passaic River Blues:

Although I am an almost exclusively archive-only listener, still wanted to pop in here well after the fact to say huzzah on 300 shows! It's difficult to fathom the amount of listening, reading, collating, collecting, and ruminating that goes into each show let alone 15 score! Here's hoping the Explorer's Room continues until every single exotica record ever released has been investigated, and then Evan goes by for another round.
