Hi everyone! (still watching the Omikron press conference, we're going into full lockdown as of tomorrow 5 am)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm

Hi everybody. Sorry to hear that, Jan 😷
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm
ironybread:

Hi Kat!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm
Zipperhead7:

Whereabout are they doing a lockdown? Went into a convenience store here about 40 miles NW of NYC -- they had big signs on the door requesting customers be masked, and of course none of the rednecks lugging their 12-packs around complied.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm
Jan Turkenburg:

@Zipperhead. The situation in Europe is worsening. The Netherlands, that's where I live, is going in lockdown, to anticipate on the omikron wave.

greetings ironybread and box people
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm
ironybread:

Hiya coel!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm
Jan Turkenburg:

As much is uncertain about the variant, the spreading rate is unprecedented, the worse case scenario is horrifying, and a wave bigger than the first one seems very possible anyhow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Also we were very late in starting the booster campagne. The government hopes to buy time...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm
Rich in Washington:

So sorry, Jan! I can't wait till all of this is over, or as over as it can be.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm
Rich in Washington:

I just cooked and consumed a ridiculously large breakfast. Now I feel like Jabba the Hutt.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Thanks Rich. From what i'm reading from experts I don't expect it to be over in less than two years, if ever...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm
ironybread:

Wherever we are and whatever stage of lockdown we must tolerate, let's EAT, I say
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm
Rich in Washington:

I bought this album out of a cutout bin for a buck when I was a preteen and was so confused.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm
Jan Turkenburg:

But we already knew that life sucks and that we have to make the best of it. Let's enjoy the pleasures of freeform radio!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm
Jan Turkenburg:

And long live The Mothers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm
Rich in Washington:

Right on, Jan!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm
Zipperhead7:

Looks iike you're right, Jan. I read something about 2024, IF they can prevent further mutations. Rich -- more lasagna for breakfast?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm
Franco Twinkie:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm

Hi Franco!

I wish they could come up with a vaccine they could drop from an airplane (like they did for the fruit fly) to vaccinate the ant-vaxxers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm
Franco Twinkie:

Taylor!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm
Rich in Washington:

No. Larry Lasagna is convalescing following a successful moisture removal procedure. I made eggs, potatoes but made mushroom and onion gravy with leftover mushrooms from said lasagna creation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm
Rich in Washington:

Hi chresti and Franco!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm
ironybread:

Remember when we all thought the greatest threat to the longevity of the human race was a lack of clean living
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm

One word Rich: YUM!

Mr Fab:

Taylor, Good morning sir, and thank you for playing one of the all-time great Brian Wilson songs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm

The network makes him break his back
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm
ironybread:

Hiya Fab! Now is probably a good time for me to give credit where credit is due - all of this set and three songs from the next set all came from someone else's mix tape. I don't know his name, or anything about him, except that he made the tape for a guy named Cory.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm
ironybread:

(Except the Phyllis Diller cut you're about to hear. I'm the guy responsible for picking that glorious travesty.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm
chresti:

I have a cousin named Cory, maybe it's hers?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm
ironybread:

Also the maker of the unidentified mix tape was Canadian. This will help narrow it down.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm
ironybread:

"Born to Sing" - greatest album cover of all time for this week
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm
chresti:

Mr Fab, if you're still here, do you know Kierin Sala? He sells stuff at swap meets, has red hair, always wears a hat...into kitschy stuff from the 50s 60s 70s, wears vintage loud polyester outfits
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm
Zipperhead7:

What is that animal corpse at the bottom of the Diller cover? I can't figure it out. It looks like some sort of homology
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm
ironybread:

Duck? Goose? Chthuloid nightmare (other)?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm
chresti:

*also, he's funny, he and Franco have known each other since the 70s
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm
ironybread:

Stole this one from the Sheena's stream. Thanks Fab!
Avatar 2:46pm
Mr Fab:

Chresti, I don’t personally know Mr Sala, but I may have seen him around. Certainly sounds like a good guy to know.
Avatar 2:47pm
Mr Fab:

Steal away, sir! I am constantly stealing stuff the DJs play to put in the stream anyway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm
ironybread:

Richard Hell re-made this album from partial backing tracks a few years back because he said the guitars in the original mix were slathered in treble. I must say I like this original version
Avatar 2:50pm
Mr Fab:

Zipperhead: I vote for a bat.

(which sums up my political philosophy as well)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm

He's usually at the PCC swap meet in Pasadena. Sometimes the Rose Bowl.
Avatar 2:52pm
mahendra_singh:

the synchronicity is all the way to 11, you're running a banner of Vishnu while I'm drawing a picture of him for a book! Nice set so far, keep the Fuji boxed!

that's a big bat.
...and a cat in a birdcage
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm

a really big bat.

...a really big headless bat

...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm
ironybread:

Hiya Mahendra! Ladies and gentlemen, the man who so gloriously illustrated a recent book of some interest
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm

haha Taylor i missed that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm
Zipperhead7:

Another wonderfully eclectic set, as always. I look forward to a Chthuloid nightmare tonight
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh wow! My hat's off to you, Mahendra! That artwork's nothing less than stunning! And an additional hats off to Taylor for the wonderful essay and assemblage.
Avatar 2:57pm
mahendra_singh:

thanks, RIW. Taylor and I were on the same twisted wavelength and the whole package turned out great
