Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from December 24, 2021 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Uncle Michael:

There are just 14 days until the 6th annual Hinky Dinky Time All Listener-Request Show!

There are two ways to make your request. You can either use the form at tinyurl.com... ..., or you can leave voice mail at (201) 204-9350.

If you leave voice mail, please pause after the tone before starting your recording, identify yourself by your WFMU listener name (or first name if you don’t have a listener name), and speak strongly, slowly and clearly. Note that leaving voice mail constitutes permission to use your recording on the show.

Feel free to also leave a Hinky Dinky Time show I.D. If you wish to do so, please pause between your request and your I.D. The format for an I.D. is "This is [listener name] and you're listening to Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael on WFMU's Give the Drummer Radio." You can get more creative if you’d like, but please include that information.

Thanks!

A nice Al Green Box was released of his singles on 45 RPM discs (a box of 45's). Took a while to get through, but wonderful (don't think the 45s were all as good sounding as the originals probably were, but still). Got lucky, a friend who was going all digital and getting rid of all his music on solid media let me have it (it was part of a Supermarket Sweep type hour running through his house, grabbing discs).

I put a duck in a slow oven a few minutes ago, stuffed with couscous and orange. Later, I'll bake a potato-cabbage gratin, and a loaf of bread. Tomorrow or Sunday, I'll make a soup of the duck bones. My request is in, so I can relax and cook.

I get to mind the store here on my own this year, so I'm making some version of chicken vegetable soup. And I might surgically remove a tonearm to replace it with something more exotic...cuz I've been avoiding that for some time now.

@doctorjazz > A retrograde upgrade. I have a used SME Series 3 'low tolerance' tone arm w a SHURE V-15 MK IV cartridge that I want to mount on my Ariston RD-40....it'll be a Frankentable...but if I manage it , my audio fidelity off of vinyl will be better thatn the Nagaoka boron thang I have...(which has been offline for quite some time)
