Mike and Peter were accomplished musicians, Peter even played a multitude of different instruments.Before the monkeys Mickey was in two of his own groups, one was called the missing links, and the other one was Mickey and the one-nighters. He played guitar. And even Davy was in a skiffle group. But despite of all that it will be forever ingrained in the world's consciousness repeating it in a mindless drone like fashion that they didn't play their own instrument's
