	🎸 ♥ 9:13pm Austin Rich: We had bands on a few times. We would play albums we didn't know and review them on the air, while the song was playing. This is only a small slice of our shenanigans.

	🎸 ♥ 9:15pm Austin Rich: I worked for the school that was attached to the radio station at the time. Since I had alluni status, I could have a show. So I would get off work, go to the nearest bar, prep for the show, then meet up with Rikki. We'd compare notes, and then we'd be on the air.
	🎸 ♥ 9:16pm Austin Rich: In the morning, before work, I would pick out a bunch of records and CDs, and email out the "theme" for the show. Then we'd veer WAY off theme, most of the time.
	9:17pm Mr. X: I'm a few minutes lagged, due to crappy Cottage Grove cable connection. My comments will all come too late, so bear with me.
	9:17pm Miss Rikki: For me, it was usually after a 12-hour work day, and hoping the ol' brain meats still spit something out
	🎸 ♥ 9:17pm Austin Rich: Meh. We're all sort of in our "own time." That's very AMLOR.
	🎸 ♥ 9:18pm Austin Rich: We both worked too much. This was sort of a "Brain Dump" in a a lot of ways.
	9:18pm andrewBunny: WTUL back in New Orleans had a great show in the 70s when I was just getting into music called Bizzare Radio. They'd play birdsong records, sound fx tracks, things like Discreet Music all at the same time. It was my fave radio show.

	9:29pm Ellen Lovebug: I loved doing college radio. I was on a talk show called Access. I was the resident "TAB" temporarily able-bodied person. The rest of the crew all had prominent disabilities. Our sound person was blind. One of our talk show hosts was deaf with a Cochlear implant. One had cerebral palsy. One was blind. We did a bunch of normalizing of student life with disabilities, talked about accommodations, and had different theme topics each week. We caught a lot of attention with our week on sexuality awareness and rights involving disabled students

	9:30pm Mr. X: My family used to watch Laugh-In every week. Flip Wilson was on it a lot. So I kind of grew up with Flip Wilson.
	🎸 ♥ 9:30pm Austin Rich: Rikki and I would just look at each other, and gesture, "I've got something," and then the other would fade down. Then we'd just watch for when someone pressed "stop," and we'd start the next sample, whoever had something cued up.
	🎸 ♥ 9:31pm Austin Rich: I've a sucker for Flip. I think both Rikki and I bonded over Flip Wilson clips.
	🎸 ♥ 9:32pm Austin Rich: Occasionally, I would go out into the lobby of the radio station, and grab whoever was there, ask them to go into the studio and speak on a random subject, and then turn on the mics. Then Rikki would mix music behind it. We had a lot of fun gimmicks. Like I said: this is just a slice.

	9:34pm Miss Rikki: The records from my half were thrift finds and from my mother's collection of oddball audio delights.
	9:34pm Ellen Lovebug: @Austin I used to have 2 cassettes, but I don't know where they are, possibly somewhere in storage. They used to be at my parents' house for safekeeping
	♥ 9:35pm postconsumer: craziest setup we ever had: a dj was spinning in the live studio. we could hear him, but he couldn't hear us. our accompaniment was: 2 minidisc players, 2 turntables and a sampler. this mix was sent down to the on-air booth, where the on-air dj was also adding to the collage! those were the days...

A combination of collage, new experimental records and other bits and bobs, Mid-Valley Mutations is a tour through the mind of Austin Rich, who has been broadcasting in some form since 1998. Heavily influenced by Dr Demento, Don Joyce and old fashioned College Radio, Austin creates Audio Essays on a variety of subjects, and even just plays records, from time to time. Sometimes Live music and Interviews will grace the program, helping create a situation where you don't really know what you're going to hear, when you tune in. What you need to know is when you enter the Mid-Valley region, be prepared for the Musical Mutations... in whatever form they take.

	🎸 ♥ 9:15pm Austin Rich: I worked for the school that was attached to the radio station at the time. Since I had alluni status, I could have a show. So I would get off work, go to the nearest bar, prep for the show, then meet up with Rikki. We'd compare notes, and then we'd be on the air.
	🎸 ♥ 9:16pm Austin Rich: In the morning, before work, I would pick out a bunch of records and CDs, and email out the "theme" for the show. Then we'd veer WAY off theme, most of the time.
	9:17pm Mr. X: I'm a few minutes lagged, due to crappy Cottage Grove cable connection. My comments will all come too late, so bear with me.
	9:17pm Miss Rikki: For me, it was usually after a 12-hour work day, and hoping the ol' brain meats still spit something out

	🎸 ♥ 9:18pm Austin Rich: We both worked too much. This was sort of a "Brain Dump" in a a lot of ways.
	9:18pm andrewBunny: WTUL back in New Orleans had a great show in the 70s when I was just getting into music called Bizzare Radio. They'd play birdsong records, sound fx tracks, things like Discreet Music all at the same time. It was my fave radio show.

	9:29pm Ellen Lovebug: I loved doing college radio. I was on a talk show called Access. I was the resident "TAB" temporarily able-bodied person. The rest of the crew all had prominent disabilities. Our sound person was blind. One of our talk show hosts was deaf with a Cochlear implant. One had cerebral palsy. One was blind. We did a bunch of normalizing of student life with disabilities, talked about accommodations, and had different theme topics each week. We caught a lot of attention with our week on sexuality awareness and rights involving disabled students

	9:30pm Mr. X: My family used to watch Laugh-In every week. Flip Wilson was on it a lot. So I kind of grew up with Flip Wilson.
	🎸 ♥ 9:30pm Austin Rich: Rikki and I would just look at each other, and gesture, "I've got something," and then the other would fade down. Then we'd just watch for when someone pressed "stop," and we'd start the next sample, whoever had something cued up.
	🎸 ♥ 9:31pm Austin Rich: I've a sucker for Flip. I think both Rikki and I bonded over Flip Wilson clips.
	🎸 ♥ 9:32pm Austin Rich: Occasionally, I would go out into the lobby of the radio station, and grab whoever was there, ask them to go into the studio and speak on a random subject, and then turn on the mics. Then Rikki would mix music behind it. We had a lot of fun gimmicks. Like I said: this is just a slice.

	♥ 9:35pm postconsumer: craziest setup we ever had: a dj was spinning in the live studio. we could hear him, but he couldn't hear us. our accompaniment was: 2 minidisc players, 2 turntables and a sampler. this mix was sent down to the on-air booth, where the on-air dj was also adding to the collage! those were the days...
