Hey S&M&S

As a gentleman of only moderate height, even when young I sometimes finished a concert with 'gig back', that ache in the small of the back which comes from several hours of standing and trying to be as tall as possible in order to see past the giant people in front of you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm

David, as someone who's of shorter stature, I'm constantly frustrated at standing shows where the tallest guys plant themselves right in front of me, completely oblivious.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm
Stanley:

Hi Irene and Tru-listeners.

David - 'gig back'! I know exactly what you mean. Doesn't help having one leg an inch shorter than the other.
I take rests, shut my eyes and groove with the sound.

At that Yo La Tengo show I attended, I went upstairs at the venue, found a bannister to lean on, and looked sad (but had some support) for the show. Don't think I would have done well in the middle of the crowd.

I have a tried and tested way of getting a good view at the cinema. I'd wait until about, say, two thirds have gone in then I sit directly behind a small person. We're lucky here, in Edinburgh, to have lots of Chinese students who do me the honour. My partner thinks me looking out for a Chinese student at the cinema is in some way racist. I tell her it's sizeism.

About 5 years ago I saw PJ Harvey at the Terminal 5 club. Massive NYC place. Couldn't see, I went up to the surrounding 2nd level. Filled up; finally found a spot to squeeze in for a view by the rail. Turned around, saw a couple standing behind me, looking forlorn. An idea popped in my head (rare). I approached them, told them I had a spot with a view. We could take turns standing in it to see. They loved it. It worked. The fellow was was Brit, the woman, Aussie. Fun idea; we shared the view.
